No. Working with the beta I've found it a several step improvement over Win 7. Evolutionary but not revolutionary. I'm looking forward to Win 8 phone so I can dump this Android piece of dung. (We allowed to say dung on TSG?)

Personally, I'm expecting something along these lines. I'm excited about Windows 8, if only because I'll be looking for a new phone around that time anyway. I work with programming for Android 4.0, but that's all simulated through Eclipse

I've removed the debate tag from this thread as it hasn't been presented for serious debate but rather only asking opinions.

I've also moved it to the Random Discussion forum.

As we get closer to Win8 release, I may start a new thread with voting. Not enough people are/have tried out the consumer preview. Its free from Microsoft, very easy to get. Don't even need to give them your real email address.

Have a spare computer, throw Win8 on. It runs quite fine on an old AMD HP desktop with 1GB ram even.

No.

Its worse. Vista is garbage because of design defects. Win7 fixed mosts of those. yet still has a few faults. The Windows8 (desktop) has many excellent improvements that I really want. Ribbon on explorer, not-so much.
The GUI in desktop is cleaner, looks nice... its still Aero, just not as glassy.

Metro on phones and future tablets is very good, its slick - fairly simple to use. I run WP7Launcher on my Android.

But working with metro on Win8 is a mess. It gets OLD really quick. Things are hidden that shouldn't be. Things that should be EASY are hard. Just use keyboard short cuts... okay, something else to learn.

The killing of the Start menu is plain stupid. You HAVE to go to metro to launch your apps (unless they are on the desktop already). Its a mess, its confusing and metro on a 24" screen... is plain stupid.

If they strip metro out of Win8, I'll support Win8.... but in its current condition... Windows 8 is not usable for the masses.
I have no plans to use it. If Apple was smart, they'd sell OS-X for $100 - but not for OEM.

I hate vista, I hate Win8-metro even more.
