The Olympics
Here we go again and London here we come....

Starting with a side note from our side of the Pond....

Techies' time to shine as Olympics begin

Quote:
The Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London take place Friday. But numerous Bay Area businesses, primarily in the tech arena, have been busy preparing for the Games for months already.

From building apps and websites to providing 24-hour online coverage and commentary to holding their own intra-office games, companies like Yahoo, Bleacher Report and Cisco will be celebrating and supporting the Olympics for the next fortnight or so.

Here's a quick look at what local companies are up to:

Be on guard against Olympics-related scams

Quote:
Banking on consumer frenzy building for the London Olympics, scammers are firing off a blitz of bogus Olympics-themed e-mail aimed at stealing your money and information. The problem has been so pervasive that London Games organizers warn on its website that consumers should be on the lookout for scams.

"... it looks likely that the opening ceremony on Friday will not sell out. Our Olympics correspondent says spare seats are likely to be filled by troops or children, but a decision will be taken on the day of the ceremony. Games organisers Locog said there were still tickets available for the event, priced at ...

... 2,012 and 1,600 each."

Watch the Olympics Online

The 2012 Olympics in London will soon be in full swing. Many events are being broadcast either live or same-day by the major networks, but there's even more action to be found online.

I normally don't give a damn about the Olympics but saw this on the news:

Blind archer sets 1st records of London Olympics

Wow! If that is not inspirational, I don't know what is.

Tim, you know I don't follow sports. Speaking of which, don't forget the Hungary GP this weekend, It's the last race for a month, for Europe's summer break.

Yes, the McLaren's are on form but once again it's rain. Nobody managed to do long stint testing on the dry rubber so it's going to be interesting for quali.

But, I return this thread to its originally intended purpose.
