I'm a proud mother today. My 11 year old was selected to participate in Remembrance Day ceremony for Vets at a local cemetery yesterday.
He wrote and read a short story: "What Remembrance Day Means To Me"
Today he recited In Flanders Field by memory at a school assembly.
He also entered a poster contest commemorating this day, though he didn't win.
I saw quite a few people wearing poppies today...more so than I remember from past years, but perhaps I am simply more aware this year.
My employer allowed us to close up shop and attend a military parade this morning. Very moving.
I watched the 1st hour of Saving Private Benjamin (not for the 1st time) on TV tonight, began to cry, and turned it off. It "felt" too real, this time, given what we watch on the news everyday...especially, lately.
I want to thank all the men and women who have lost their lives, keeping us safe and free.

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn! Great news about your son! I love hearing things like that! About the movie...you mean Saving Private Ryan! It is a sad movie to watch...I saw it before too. It's a shame some ABC networks aren't showing the movie for fear of getting sued by the FCC because of the Janet Jackson fiasco! Tell your son I'm proud for him!

Thanks for the correction, Angel (I guess I wish I'd been watching Private Benjamin, huh? Goldie Hawn, right?...Don't tell me if I'm wrong, I couldn't bear two corrections in one night lol) and I'll be sure to tell my son of your

Take care and have a good evening,

Carolyn

I went to the Legion Ceremony today with Jim and his mom. She was laying a wreath.

I found it upsetting as was last year . I think more so this year because I can't go to his grave and say hi to him. I miss my dad on days like this. When they announced Korean War I broke down and started to cry. No matter what I will remember my dad on days like this.

I took my poppy off after the ceremony and put it on the wreath Doris laid.

The veteran's gave up their youth, innocence, who they are, and there were lots of them who gave up their lives to keep us all safe.

Thank you dad and all other vets for My Freedom..

Hey sweets!

Been in the tombs today, but no one seems to be there again.
