I'm a proud mother today. My 11 year old was selected to participate in Remembrance Day ceremony for Vets at a local cemetery yesterday.
He wrote and read a short story: "What Remembrance Day Means To Me"
Today he recited In Flanders Field by memory at a school assembly.
He also entered a poster contest commemorating this day, though he didn't win.
I saw quite a few people wearing poppies today...more so than I remember from past years, but perhaps I am simply more aware this year.
My employer allowed us to close up shop and attend a military parade this morning. Very moving.
I watched the 1st hour of Saving Private Benjamin (not for the 1st time) on TV tonight, began to cry, and turned it off. It "felt" too real, this time, given what we watch on the news everyday...especially, lately.
I want to thank all the men and women who have lost their lives, keeping us safe and free.
Carolyn
