#50 | i rooneyed up on that mountain from about 89-94. we came with about 20-30 people from long island on thurs as dave was letting people in.we stayed up in elm street.have a lot of good memories of the fest.i have a few picture albums somewhere from the early 90s that i will try and put up at some point.remember taking my girlfriend now wife to her first one and she had on white.needless to say that didnt last long.i would love to know if there is anything going on similar to that fest but a little more subdued. have four kids now that i'd love to take up there. it was always something to look forward to back then. i came home one year with a soup can with a spoon in it on my bumper.i didnt realize it was there for a few days.love to see pictures if anyone has any from the same time frame | | Junior Member with 11 posts. | | Join Date: Mar 2008 Experience: Beginner |

#51 | rooney mountain pig roast here is a pig roast every year on the mountain. I believe this years is on july 26. The slogan is this is not the rooneyfest, it's a picknick. Bring a dish to pass and 10 or 15 dollars. dave built a big pavillion by the pond with electric and a phone. Thres usually lots of food. It used to be the workers party where you sighned up for gate duty and so on, but after the festival the pig roast kept going on. There are a couple of bands that play also. | | Junior Member with 2 posts.

#52 | Vague/Good memories I attended a few of the Rooney fests over the years, including the last couple public affairs. What a bunch of freaks we were during those days! I was usually camped towards the top of the mountain and would light off 2 inch mortars (usually at 6:00 a.m. or so), yelling, "One more time from the top...this time put a little feeling into it!" That generally got the hardcore partiers laughing in their sleeping bags (or wherever they had fallen out the night before) and moans of displeasure from puppies.
I do have a couple photos, including some looking down the mountain and some of me and a few friends doing what Rooney required we do...be as freakish as we wanted to be.
The last one I went to (and I believe it was the last public event) I left in an LSD induced haze, walked off the mountain, left all my camping gear up on top, and walked/hitchiked back home (Oxford NY at the time) thinking that....well....I don't know rightly what the hell I was thinking...something hallucinogenics induced in my brain and my friends helped cultivate....
I have some fond memories of the times, and some that are a little fuzzy, but all in all, I Roonied with the best of 'em! | | Junior Member with 2 posts.

#55 | Rooney Fest
Those were the best of times...and the worst. I went a couple of years towards the end and loved every minute of it, especially the music.
I'm sorry to say that I'm probably one of the people responsible for its demise. On the second day of my second year I fell in the mud, broke several bones, had surgery, 5 days in the hospital, 6 months of physical therapy and $25,000 in medical bills...with no insurance. Still have pain to this day. Ended up suing the Baskervilles, whose insurance company, 5+ years later, covered my expenses plus a couple grand. I'm sorry things went down the way they did.
Rooney 'til you have a career-ending injury.

#56 | RRoooooooooooooonnnneeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyy! So glad I came across this site and thread. I'm friends with the LuckyDawgz, and went to my 1st Rooney in '86. I had some "I Got Happy Feet" round dark blue stickers in my car, and when I got ontop of that mountain for the first time, I knew why. I plastered them all over everyone! I went to every fest after, each one getting crazier than the last, speading my "Happy Feet". I met so many great people, too. I ran out of those blue stickers, and went up one year without any. Dave said "Well, you have to get more made!!!" So, I did! I now give them out at the picnic's up there, and at Grassroots, The Great Blue Heron Festival, and anywhere there is music and Happy Feet! My husband and I had a Rooney wedding the last year of the fest. We were planning a Sept. wedding, and the LuckyDawgz got wind. They quickly (I mean, within an hour) set up a whole wedding party! It was great! We got our marriage license in Deposit that Monday on the way out of town. Just a small note about the museum Dave wants to make....he's looking for "Claire". Anyone with ANY info on her....please.....get ahold of Dave. (or LuckyDawgz, or me....) #57 | Rooney till your looney I was watching the rain today and it reminded me of the Rooney Fest. And it realty wasn’t a Rooney until it rained. How awesome would it have been if it were still going on? Especially during all of this rain that we have been getting lately. I was invited to go when I was a senior in high school. But I never went. And a few years later I went up with a group of virgins. We got to camp up on top next to the big *** rock with one of the guys that worked at the front gate. After that I camped all over. Hell one year I parked my Lincoln next to the generators and pitched my tent there. I know it my sound foolish but I really liked camping in the field the best. We built up great relationships with nearly every one that we came across. And the last few years we stayed in the same spot. And camped next to the same group of people each time. We would put up the Rooney beer headquarters banner right next to our Highland Ave sign. I sure do miss that place. I only missed one Rooney after my first time. And that was because my 2nd child was born on Friday July 31st. And when she was a toddler. And somebody asked her when birthday was; she would say “July 31st. Just before he Rooney”. Its too bad all-good things have to come to an end. So what’s up with the pig roast? Is it still a private event or will they let a 40-year-old Indian in? #59 | this is to shags I fell and broke my wrist at a pig roast one year. I missed 8 weeks of work and was on disabilty. My bills backed up and serveses were turned off untill I could return to work. Did I sue? NO You want to know why? Because Dave oppens his land and time to hold a party for us people that need to go and be ourselves for a couple of days. He puts up with the daily headaches and doesnt even get to enjoy himself, on his land mind you, untill Sunday afternon. And then he has to deal with people like you who sue him for the fact that u fell in the mud. The fact that you may not have been drinking or on the influence of any drugs is not even the point here. You were responsible for yourself. And to sue for something that was your falt is criminal. At least I still have friends on that hill that I call my second home. And for that I am blessed. | | Junior Member with 3 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: Port Crane Experience: i type with two fingers |

#60 | This is for Spikethealigator Hey Spike thanks for the invite. I look's like the pig roast is today. I would love to be there. But I can let my kids down. We have been planning a road trip for this weekend. And the roller coasters are calling our names. We have been planning to go get are thrill on for three weeks now. But I will bring the Chile next year. And maybe even my kids. I will keep my eye on this thread so I can make plans for it. So thanks again. And have fun Tomahawk
