#31 | ingdirect.com - IRA Mutual Fund - Comments/Advice/Suggestions. Hello. I took a little free time and looked into the ingdirect.com IRA Mutual Fund. It's basically their mutual fund, but requires less money. I already invested in one ING mutual fund, should I reinvest it in the IRA mutual fund? | | Distinguished Member with 2,532 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2000 Location: Location: USA Experience: Somewhere between Beginne |

#32 | Pay Tax Now or Pay Tax Later? Hello. I am trying to decided whether to pay taxes now or pay taxes later on my federal bonds? What do you guys think. On the plus side, I could get the taxes out of the way now so when it matures, I pay less. Or I can defer the taxes until withdraw or it matures.
Suggestions please. Thank you. www.treasurydirect.gov | | Distinguished Member with 2,532 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2000 Location: Location: USA Experience: Somewhere between Beginne |

#37 | I know there are morgage mutual funds, but you can buy morgage secuirties directly from the federal government. Here are some links for that and a clip from c-span.org.

#38 | Let me make a suggestion or two. You're young so you can afford to be more risky with your investment portfolio. That said, unless you plan on spending a great deal if not all your time learning about investing in the various vehicles available (stocks, bonds, mortgage backed securities etc) I suggest getting an investment adviser. Only get one that works on an hourly fee not a commission based one. While it will cost up front it will return big benefits overall and will free you up to do something other then study corporate earnings statements.

#39 | Hello people. Anything new worth mentioning in terms of investment? Americans need to invest more. We as a nation spend more than we save. Here are some sound investment updates:
"Series I Savings Bonds to Earn 4.52%, Series EE to Earn 3.60% Fixed Rate, When Bought From November 2006 Through April 2007
FOR RELEASE AT 10:00 AM
Nov 1, 2006
The Bureau of the Public Debt today announced an earnings rate of 4.52% for Series I Savings Bonds, and a fixed rate of 3.60% for Series EE bonds, issued from November 2006 through April 2007. Earnings rates for I bonds and fixed rates for EE bonds are set each November 1 and May 1. Interest accrues monthly and compounds semiannually. Bonds held less than five years are subject to a three-month interest penalty. Both series have an interest-bearing life of 30 years; the EE bond fixed rate applies to a bond’s 20-year original maturity.
I BOND EARNINGS RATE 4.52%, FIXED RATE 1.40%
The earnings rate for Series I Savings Bonds is a combination of a fixed rate, which applies for the life of the bond, and the semiannual inflation rate. The 4.52% earnings rate for I bonds bought from November 2006 through April 2007 will apply for their first six months after issue. The earnings rate combines a 1.40% fixed rate of return with the 3.10% annualized rate of inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index for all Urban Consumers (CPI-U). The fixed rate applies for the 30-year life of I bonds purchased during this six-month period. The CPI-U increased from 199.8 to 202.9 from March through September 2006, a six-month increase of 1.55%." http://www.treasurydirect.gov/news/p...eeandi1106.htm

Does anybody know where I can by them directly? You know like www.treasurydirect.gov? So far my investments are a higher rate savings account, federal bonds I purchases for every intrest rate change, ETF (partial & whole shares), and a large cap mutual fund I throw money at every so often.
I'd love to have an investment advisor, but I don't have much $$$! I can't invest in much because I am poor. Poor sucks, money rocks! #43 | Preperation is everything: ETFs, Stocks, Mutual Funds,... Hello, any suggestions for getting into ETFs? I've been thinking about it and have decided on a best performing approach to investing in those sharebuilder.com allow. I've been checking out buisnessweek.com and a few other sites on some high performing ETFs and from what I understand are pretty diversed. Simple, but has proven effective for me over the past six months.
The same goes for stocks and mutual funds. Haven't look much into IPOs, any suggestions there. I remember when google.com (GOOG) was cheap, now look at it! | | Distinguished Member with 2,532 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2000 Location: Location: USA Experience: Somewhere between Beginne |
