I am working on expanding my investment portfolio, I am proud to say that my small investments crawling up the water spout again! In time the web will be strong and not even a hurricane will not cause it to faulture.
Soon I will start searching for mutual funds. Right now my investment portfolio is full of ETFs, hand picked stocks, and federal EE and I bonds. As my income increases I'll invest in mutual funds, CDs, corporate and municipal bonds.
To a lesser extent credit cards that pay cash back / points that be used towards future balances. I consider this an investment. Currently, I have $30 in my "dividend dollars;" by the end of the year that should reach $50. If the terms of the card agreement stay the same; lets say $50 * 20 years = $1000. Which isn't so bad; think about what that $1000 can do in 20 years in a CD or a bond. My card gets about 2% cash back. Also, if I am not mistaken many cards have a yearly cash back limit. For example my card maxes out at $250. So if you are a high spender that could be $250 * 20 years = $5,000. Remember to read all card agreements carefully. Also keep in mind that they are subject to change. The best rates I've seen on cash back are Discover, Citi, and American Express cards: http://www.cardratings.com/bestcards...yrate#cashback. http://moneycentral.msn.com/banking/...archId=9&Go=Go www.bankrate.com https://www.citicards.com/cards/wv/f...BACK&x=39&y=13 https://www124.americanexpress.com/c...ype=intProduct https://www124.americanexpress.com/c...ype=intProduct
If you have a buisness and want a card with above 2% cash back, this one site looks promising: https://www.advanta.com/ADV.
I am sure you can find comperable cards if you look high enough. As always a "low rate" credit card is also a good investment.

Hello. I've been updating my sharebuilder account data and noticed that since I've started putting money into it my dividends have come up to a mear average of $3.00 a year. So my question is should I just deposid the dividends into a savings account? Or should I pull my money out entirely? My savings bonds have been doing much better than my ShareBuilder.com account. Also, my savings has gotten more of a return as well. However, you have to consider the fact that most of the sharebuilder investments are partial shares not whole. | | Distinguished Member with 2,534 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2000 Location: Location: USA Experience: Somewhere between Beginne |

#64 | Private Auto Liens. I have some knowledge of auto liens, although I have significant datum gaps.
Q: My first question is lets say a private citizen puts a lien on a car. I know for a fact you can. Thus I suspect in most if not all states you can do it as well. In many states the physical title is mailed direct to lienholder. Where as the 'lien statement/notice of lien/whatever you want to call it' is mailed to person. Now I know for fact that banks and other institutions sell these things all the time.
So lets say I put a $500 lien on a car and I give the person the title sells it; legally, they can. Can I sell the lien to somebody else without any hassle? Or should I setup company, put a few liens on a car or two and sell them? I would want to setup a few liens via myself or with a company?
Note: In the state I live in, the title is mailed to the purchaser regardless.
Note on Lease or Finance: If you Finance the car, I (the lender) can take it if the lien is not satisfied. If the car is leased, I own the car outright (read the title), and according to the lease agreement you can either buy it out or give it back. I say this because many people use these terms interchangeably, which are wrong. Occasionally a lienholder or leaseholder may own a subsidiary that performs either action.
I have to ask my associates a few questions in that area.

I am currently compiling a list of top performing mutual funds of various types. will compile my findings in a month or two. | The market is doing good, very good. I might just dump another $50 into my account. The question is where to put it it all? I was thinking google perhaps? Of course we still have to wait and see what the new interest rates on federal securities will be. I will read a few business websites and see which funds [if availible on sharebuilder.com] will be best to put my money in. Real estate funds are cheaper, so buying the higher end funds at a lower price now could pay off in the future, what do you guys think? | | Distinguished Member with 2,534 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2000 Location: Location: USA Experience: Somewhere between Beginne |

#67 | I was thinking maybe I should take out some sort of general loan to build my credit/lending resume? You know something to help in the distant future. From what I have read, credit (i.e. credit cards) alone can take me but only so far.
For example I was thinking of taking out a $5,000 loan, spending and repaying at most $100. However my knowledge of loans is limited. Anybody have some suggestions?
Commerceonline.com and Citibank.com/citi.com appear to have decent loans. I don't want anything to hazardous.

#71 | Should I keep reinvesting dividends or should I have them deposited into my money market account? For sometimes I've seen my stocks and ETFs go way up, then they go way down? So does anybody have any suggestions on that matter?
Investing in foreign markets is always a good idea. Anybody have any recommended stocks or funds?

I like it but the better features cost more money. So the info depends on how much you're willing to shell out to them. Also there are many investments that are not availible. SB has some restictions on the types of investments you can make. Some stocks just won't be there.
No it is not.

#74 | Glad to hear you are doing well jonasdatum . My play portfolio was doing great. I was going to sell a specific stock when it was a profit (worth ~170% of my initial investment), but did not do it in time . I listened to the email notices I was getting and they were still saying it would go even higher . I held on to it and it is now worth about ~20% of my initial investment. It has taken a big toll on my standing. Luckily, I am not in it for real yet, so I can chock it up to a learning experience. | | Distinguished Member with 2,534 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2000 Location: Location: USA Experience: Somewhere between Beginne |
