Wrongful Death, Defamation Lawsuits Filed in Natalee Holloway Case; Dr. Phil Named As Defendant
Thursday, December 14, 2006

Two lawsuits have been filed in the case of a college student who vanished in Aruba nearly two years ago, FOX News has learned.

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, two of the young men last seen with Natalee Holloway, the Alabama teenager who disappeared in Aruba in May 2005.

The suit of Beth Twitty and Dave Holloway was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court as a related case to a defamation lawsuit the Kalpoe brothers filed Wednesday against pop psychologist and talk show host Dr. Phil, CBS and Paramount, among others.

"All we want is justice for our daughter," Twitty said in a press release issued about the civil case. "There is no doubt in my mind that Deepak and Satish played a role in my daughter's death and should be held accountable. It's unconscionable that they have not been punished so far."

Allegations against the Kalpoes, who are residents of the Caribbean island where the 18-year-old Holloway was traveling on a class trip when she vanished without a trace, say the brothers caused her death by "intentionally, negligently, wantonly ... unlawfully conducting themselves," bringing about injuries that proved fatal.

The Kalpoes' suit against Dr. Phil, whose real name is Phillip C. McGraw, maintains that an interview filmed with the brothers "was manipulated and later broadcast by the 'Dr. Phil' show as being accurate and which portrays Deepak Kalpoe and Satish Kalpoe 'as engaging in criminal activity against Natalee Holloway and constitutes defamation per se.'"

If this was my daughter I would haunt them until the day I died, and have someone else carry on after my death.

I can understand how the family is grasping at straws...I can't imagine having my child disappear like that......I can't imagine not knowing one way or the other if my child was dead or alive...and then see the alleged men involved walking free....heartbreaking! And I agree with Candy...the lawsuit will end the same way as the first...

While I can understand the frustration, how about putting your energies into something that will be more positive feeling for yourself

Just an idea

Anger creates diseases................

I can understand how her parents feel, and I would feel the same way. And I would take "positive" action pursuing the case until hell freezes over.

Brothers seek to dismiss lawsuit in Natalee Holloway case
The Associated Press
Published 6:27 am PST Wednesday, February 28, 2007

Two brothers who were former suspects in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba are seeking to dismiss a lawsuit brought against them by the teen's parents. They say the case has no connection to California.

In court papers filed last week, the attorney for Deepak and Satish Kalpoe argued the brothers are residents of Aruba and have no ties to California.

Holloway's parents filed a wrongful death suit in December in Los Angeles Superior Court claiming Deepak and Satish Kalpoe caused fatal injuries to their teenage daughter.

Beth Twitty and Dave Holloway chose the Los Angeles court after the Kalpoes sued the "Dr. Phil" talk show alleging libel and slander in the same venue.

And it should be dismissed as the U.S. certainly doesn't have jurisdiction over foreigners Thank God.

As for suing Dr. Phil, HE IS A U.S. citizen, so that would be the proper venue. As to whether they have standing in a U.S. court though......hmmmmm........
