News/Updates...Missing Teen in Aruba: Natalee Holloway
I've been following this news story from the beginning...I think hope is fading each hour Natalee Holloway is missing of finding her alive. Here is a beautiful young woman with a bright future who goes on a senior trip to have a lovely vacation and some fun before her college life begins...to maybe have her life snuffed out! I know one could hold out hope she is still alive...even if that means she is being held against her will somewhere...I feel so sad for her family and friends...it must be torture to not know where she is...what happened to her! I have included Natalee in my prayers and know whatever happens...she is in God's hands.

Attorney: Men being investigated for murder
Search continues for missing teen

The Associated Press

Updated: 10:17 p.m. ET June 7, 2005

ORANJESTAD, Aruba - The attorney for two former security guards arrested in the disappearance last month of an Alabama honors student said Tuesday his clients were being investigated for murder and kidnapping.

Authorities earlier Tuesday said they had not ruled out accidental death in the case of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway, but they have not said they believe she was a victim of foul play.

A judge was to determine Wednesday whether authorities have enough evidence to continue to hold the two men, who have not yet been charged and who deny any connection to the high school graduate, said defense lawyer Chris Lejuez.

“They both say that during the time” of the disappearance, “they were not at the (girl’s) hotel and they don’t know this girl,” Lejuez told The Associated Press.

Lejuez said he was told of the allegations by judicial authorities as he met with his clients.

He said one of the two men had been arrested several years ago for a fight but was released after a couple of days. Lejuez said he was prohibited by law from releasing the names of the suspects.

Police and FBI kept up a search for Holloway, but a lack of any solid leads was hindering progress after nine days, according to several officers. Local officials asked the FBI to bring in dogs trained to search for people.

A massive search involving more than 700 volunteers on the southeastern tip of Aruba — where the two suspects were arrested Sunday — yielded no leads Monday. More than 4,000 civil servants who had been given the day off and encouraged to volunteer in the search effort returned to work Tuesday.

The parents said they had not received any request for ransom or any other evidence that she had been kidnapped in this Dutch Caribbean territory.

In an interview with The Associated Press, they thanked the people of Aruba for helping in the search.

“The support is phenomenal,” said her mother, Beth Holloway Twitty, 44.

Holloway has been missing since May 30, when she vanished while on a five-day trip with more than 100 classmates celebrating their high school graduation on this Dutch Caribbean island. Seven chaperones accompanied them.

She had spent her last night eating and dancing at Carlos ’n Charlie’s bar and restaurant, which has contributed $5,000 of a $55,000 reward for information on Holloway.

Authorities had not ruled out any possibilities, including that Holloway may have drowned, Attorney General Caren Janssen said. Two divers among the eight FBI agents in Aruba have been searching the waters surrounding the island, Comemencia said.

The two men in custody were former security guards for a hotel two blocks from the Holiday Inn where Holloway was staying. Their work contracts expired the day before she disappeared, a police officer told The Associated Press.

The men were known to police because they had a habit of going around to hotels trying to pick up women or bum cigarettes, said the officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The officer said several islanders told police the men frequently were seen hanging out at different hotels talking to female tourists. No complaints had been filed against them
.

One of the suspects had a brush with the law, but it was not a violent or sexual offense, the officer said without elaborating.

Police last week questioned and released three other men — described as “persons of interest” — who told police they took Holloway to a beach and then dropped her off at her hotel the night she vanished.

An official close to the case told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday that one of the three is the son of a Dutch justice ministry official who has lived on the island for more than 10 years and is studying at a school there.

Holloway’s parents and other relatives who rushed to the island last week refused to give up hope of bringing her home alive.

I feel determined. I won’t leave here until I find my daughter,” said Holloway Twitty, who was accompanied by the missing girl’s stepfather, Jug Twitty.

The girl’s brother Matt, and a stepbrother, George Twitty, were to arrive later Tuesday, carrying 1,000 prayer bracelets made by her friends, said Holloway’s aunt, Marcia Twitty.

In Holloway’s hometown of Mountain Brook, Ala., residents tied yellow ribbons to everything from mail boxes to ATMs.

Holloway’s disappearance has upset Arubans, who take pride in the island’s reputation for friendliness and safety.

Tourism accounts for 70 percent of the economy in the territory of 97,000 people, with 73 percent of visitors coming from the United States. Many American tourists have volunteered to help in the search.

Natalee Is 'Miss Perfect'

ORANJESTAD, Aruba, June 6, 2005

(CBS) It would have been "absolutely and totally out of character" for Natalee Holloway to go anywhere alone with men she didn't know, according to a family spokesperson.

Carla Caccavale spoke to The Early Show co-anchor Hannah Storm Monday about reports that Holloway went to an Aruba beach with three men who claim they later returned the Alabama teen safely to her hotel.

Holloway, 18, was on a high school graduation trip to the island when she disappeared a week ago. Two suspects have been detained in connection with the case.

Caccavale says Holloway is "a straight-A student. She's very proud of her 4.0 [cumulative college grades average]. She received a full academic scholarship to college. And just the outpouring of support in her hometown [Birmingham] kind of shows you what type of person she is. Extremely loved. She used to baby-sit for children with special needs. In a nutshell, she's Miss Perfect.

"Support from the people in Birmingham is part of the reason why the family is remaining so strong," Caccavale continued. "The vigils, the prayers, everything is just an extra line of support for them. And it means the world to them."

Caccavale added that Aruba residents are "absolutely devastated. The island has never experienced something like this. And they are doing all they can to help the family.

"I mean, they are donating ATVs, they're coming out to search, they're handing out flyers. Last night, a prayer vigil that we attended was organized by someone here on island just to show Natalee's family how dedicated they are to helping bring Natalee home safe and just to reinforce that they are praying day and night for her safe return."

I hate how they know more than they're saying...it must drive Natalee's family crazy!

3 More Suspects Arrested In Aruba In Missing Teen Case

POSTED: 7:42 am EDT June 9, 2005
UPDATED: 7:50 am EDT June 9, 2005

ORANJESTAD, Aruba -- Aruban police arrested three more suspects in the case of the missing American honors student Thursday, the attorney general said.

Attorney General Caren Janssen said police arrested three men who police had previously questioned and released in the May 30 disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway.

Authorities have described the three as students -- two Surinamese and a native of the Netherlands -- who told police they dropped off Holloway at her hotel around 2 a.m. on May 30.

Hotel employees, however, said that security cameras did not record her return
. (That right there says these men had something to hide...lying to cover their butts!)

Meanwhile, prosecutors in Aruba said they still don't have any evidence that the missing Alabama teen was killed while visiting the island, nor evidence that links two men in custody to Holloway's disappearance.

At a news conference, authorities said they realize they have to provide some proof if they want the two suspects to remain behind bars beyond next week. The men are being held on suspicion of kidnapping and murder.

Police in Aruba said water searches have ended for now, because they haven't produced any results. An extensive land search continues.

Suspect's Common-Law Wife Suggests Alibi

The common-law wife of one of two men first arrested in Holloway’s disappearance is offering an alibi for her child's father.

Abraham Jones is under investigation for possible murder and kidnapping charges in the disappearance of Holloway. But the woman he lives with said he was home sick on May 29 and 30 when Holloway was last seen. (If she's found to be a liar...then shame on her!! )

Cynthia De Graaf said she was with Jones continuously on both days.

A lawyer representing Jones and Nick John, who is also held under suspicion, says he has yet to see any evidence that Holloway is not alive. He also said there's no evidence the two men were involved in her disappearance.

The two men worked as security guards at a hotel near where Holloway was staying.

A judge Wednesday ruled there's sufficient reason to hold the two men on suspicion of murder and kidnapping.

Family Does Not Blame Chaperones

Holloway's aunt said family members don't blame trip chaperones for the girl's disappearance.

Natalee Holloway 18-year-old joined more than 100 classmates and seven adult chaperones on a five-day excursion to the island. Holloway never showed up for the group's return flight.

Her aunt, Marcia Twitty, said the adult chaperones were "incredible, wonderful people." She said, "These were people who knew our kids day in and day out."

Twitty met with reporters Wednesday outside Mountain Brook Community Church. Classmates have been gathering there for daily prayer sessions.

A large display was erected Wednesday morning in front of one entrance to the church showing a picture of Holloway and the words "hope" and "prayer."

Angel, this is a sad situation. I guess her parents thought she would be safe on a trip like this. I, personally would not allow my young daughter to go to an area like this. She is either dead or in a brothel.

Hi poochee: I wouldn't allow my 18 year old daughter if I had one to go there either! I've been thinking from the beginning too she's dead or being held captive in the sex industry...what a waste of a beautiful girl's life if either turns out to be true! This world stinks!

I really feel for her parents, her teachers, and her friends, too. What a tragedy! I hope-hope-hope they find her alive. Those weren't killers that she left with, were they? Werent they just boys? Or did the mob mentality take over?

Hi burf! The police there are pretty much close mouthed about this! The three men were the last ones to be with her...claim they dropped her off at her hotel around 2 a.m......but she is not seen on the security camera ever getting back to her hotel! So...you have either THREE liars right there....OR....she ran into the two security guards AFTER the other three allegedly dropped her off! One of those arrested is from a prominent family....maybe the kind who can pay others off...you know...like the Kennedys! I just think hope fades with each passing hour of finding Natalee alive! I know it'd be awful if she was in a brothel somewhere in Aruba...but anything is better than being murdered! I hope they find her alive and she can get over whatever it is she has been through...you know she is either dead or her life is now in peril because news of her is so widespread now!

That is a relatively small island, isn't it? That's gotta help. It's wonderful all the country is dedicated to find here. They're getting a lot of cooperation. Did anybody ever ask what a high school girl on a school trip was doing leaving with strangers from a night club in the wee hours of the morning? Is the school liable?

I smell several RATS here...these freaks are just trying to make up a story to make Natalee look bad! It sickens me!

Ala. Teen Went to Aruba Beach With Student

By MICHAEL NORTON, Associated Press Writer

Fri Jun 10,12:33 PM ET

ORANJESTAD, Aruba - A missing Alabama honors student went to an Aruban beach with a Dutch teen the night she disappeared and had sexual contact with him in the car, a defense lawyer representing one of five men arrested in the case said Friday. (I don't beleive that for a moment! )

Natalee Holloway, 18, drove with the Dutch teen and two Surinamese brothers to Arashi beach, on the northern part of the island, Noraina Pietersz, a court-appointed lawyer representing one of two former security guards arrested in the case, told The Associated Press. Pietersz read from testimony given to police by the two brothers last week.

Five people — the Dutch student, two Surinamese brothers and two former security guards — have been arrested in the disappearance of Holloway, who was last seen in the early hours of May 30. She was in Aruba celebrating her graduation from high school in Mountain Brook, Ala.

Holloway disappeared hours before she was to take a flight home. Police found her passport and packed bags in her hotel room.

Authorities have not said Holloway was a victim of foul play and have not ruled out any possibilities, including that she may have drowned.

"We think she's alive," said Holloway's stepmother, Robin Holloway, who added that authorities told the family they had expanded the search to other nearby islands.

After Holloway and the three men went to the beach, they drove her back to her hotel, where she stumbled and was approached by a man wearing a security guard uniform, another defense attorney, David Kock, told the AP. (I don't beleive that for a monent either! Band of liars!!!)

His comments came after Holloway's stepfather, George "Jug" Twitty, told the AP she met the Dutch student in the casino of her hotel and flirted with him two days before she disappeared.

Aruba Prime Minister Nelson Oduber said finding Holloway was the "No. 1 goal" on the Dutch Caribbean island, where volunteers, police, coast guard officers and Dutch soldiers continued their search Friday.

Twitty told the AP he met with the Dutch teen and Surinamese brothers early Tuesday, and they told him they were with his stepdaughter at Carlos'N Charlie's nightclub restaurant Sunday night, shortly before she disappeared.

The men said Holloway had been dancing and flirting with the Dutch teen, the son of a high-ranking Dutch judicial official in Aruba, before they dropped her at the hotel, Twitty said. (Money talks....lies!!!!)

She was drunk and stumbled when she tried to get out of the car, the boys told him. When the Dutch teen tried to help her she refused, saying, "I can stand on my own," the men told Twitty. (More lies!)

He said the meeting was arranged by the police.

Kock said his client, Satish Kalpoe, 18, and his brother, Deepak, 21, told police they saw a black security guard approach Holloway in the parking lot in front of the hotel lobby before they drove off. (Someone is LYING here!)

"That's why they (two former security guards) were detained," Kock told the AP.

Oduber said his government was working closely with U.S. authorities, who have sent FBI agents and divers to help in the search. Holloway's disappearance had left Arubans "in a state of shock and disbelief," he said.

"The hearts of the people of Aruba are touched by Natalee and her family," he said.

Oduber met with Holloway's relatives and pledged that police would not exclude anyone from their investigation.

In Mountain Brook, classmates who went to Aruba with Holloway said the Dutch teen was at several places the group visited, including the restaurant-bar where she was last seen.

Marcia Twitty, Holloway's aunt, said the Alabama students recognized the Dutch detainee from photos shown them by FBI agents.

"They had seen him around during the trip. He was just a local guy in the bar and the casino where all the kids were just kind of hanging out," she said.

Attorney General Caren Janssen said the three were arrested Thursday but she refused to identify them or say on what grounds they were being held. Authorities previously described them as students, and had questioned and released them last week, describing them then as witnesses and "persons of interest."

Police also impounded a gray Honda. Holloway's friends reported last seeing her leave Carlos'N Charlie's in a silver car.

The Dutch detainee, an honors student at Aruba International School, left his home in the middle-class Montana neighborhood of Oranjestad on Thursday with his head covered in a blue-and-green towel.

Under the Dutch judicial system, which Aruba follows as a protectorate of the Netherlands, people can be arrested on suspicion of a crime and held for up to 116 days without being formally charged.

Officials were investigating whether the three detainees had any connection to two former hotel security guards held in the case since Sunday, Janssen said.

The two ex-guards, Nick John, 30, and Abraham Jones, 28, will remain jailed at least until a court hearing next week, Janssen said. They have not been charged.

Pietersz said she spoke to her client in jail Thursday and decided not to demand his immediate release. "We prefer to let the prosecution investigate, confident that my client will be released" by Wednesday, she said.

Five FBI agents remain in Aruba observing the investigation, said Judy Orihuela, FBI spokeswoman in Miami. Two FBI divers traveled to Aruba over the weekend and returned to the United States early this week.

"They were asked to do some site survey," Orihuela said. "They never got in the water."

The Aruba government and local tourism organizations have offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to Holloway's rescue, her family and benefactors in Alabama have offered an additional $30,000 and Carlos'N Charlie's donated $5,000.

Just like a male to pretend he had sex with her. They've been doing that for thousands of years. And she isn't even around to defend herself!

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (CNN) -- One of three young suspects arrested Thursday in the investigation into the disappearance of an Alabama teenager has confessed to her murder, a senior police official said late Friday.

Police did not say which of the three confessed to the killing of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway.

The three have been identified as brothers Satish Kalpoe, 18, and Depak Kalpoe, 21, and their friend, 17-year-old Joran Van Der Sloot, the son of a judge.
