Vista transformation pack or atcually running winvista? I personally like windows 7. It runs quite well on my test machine which only has a gig of ram and a single core 2 ghz cpu (xp era lappy). Thinking of moving my hp to it when it is out, possibly over the summer as im having some home server woes i may work on sorting out over holidays. Dont want to mess with the laptop in the middle of a semester as i need it for school.

Running Windows 7, the full version--not a release candidate or anything. I got a copy of Ultimate pre-release through MS ExpertZone.

It runs really nice on my machine, 4 GB RAM and a Pentium Dual Core Overclocked to 3.56 GHz.

It won't take my old SoundBlaster Live, though. Very annoying...guess I'm gonna have to buy an audigy or x-fi.

Ah it sounds good then, annoying with the soundcard. At the moment im trying to get linux to run on the server, as xp is not liking vista. Im really frustrated with it as it works fine with everything else, it just kicks off vista pcs at random during long term conections over wireless, yet windows xp is not bothered at all regardless of what type of way its linked up.

Beautiful...our schools computers are just starting to move the teacher units to vista....Dont understand why they dont just jump into win7...so much better. I will be upgrading my pcs this summer . I need mine for school right now and just wouldnt have the time to work on everyone else's. So this summer i plan on doing the big move.

We still run all 2000 and XP at the school. Granted, all of the machines came with either one, and the servers are ancient Pentium IIIs running 2000 server. There is one nicer Xeon, but even it is pretty old. On average, a teacher PC is a Dell GX240 1.8 GHz with 512 MB RAM running 2000. If they're a well-liked or tech-savvy teacher, they may have a GX270 or GX280. At best, there's a few labs with 2.2 GHz Pentium Dual-Core machines with 1 GB RAM. At worst, hmmm, I think there's some GX1 Pentium IIs at one of the elementary school labs.
It sounds really bad, but for the basic things people do in a school (Word Processing, Internet) the machines are pretty adequate. I tweak the images for weeks so they run as nicely as possible.

Hm well if they work i see no point in fixing it, you figure either by 2014 if those bats are still kicking around you could drop linux on them (hmmmm linux computer labs.....learn linux too ). Although most likely by the expiration date of xp those machines will have been upgraded.

I've got my computer all decorated for Christmas. Here's the desktop (notice the computer icons on the left and my pointer is a Santa) and the browser.
