Thanks guys We did have a couple near frosts abuot a week ago, and nighttime temps are in the fiftie and low sixties, I believe. Maybe I do just need to wait.

Honestly I don't remember what all I planted. I have a bunch of marigolds, impatients, and the like... The marigolds are doing fine. Another plat I have is growing even more than it was when I planted it, which is good. But there are a lot of shriveled, dead flowers in my garden.

I've been watering from my hose... we get city water, and the water is actually pretty good, better than some other local city water companies.

I planted everything in Miracle-Gro potting soil, and that's the extent of any chemicals.

Thanks guys.
~TGG

Pictures soon... need batteries in my camera.

What I always try to keep in mind is that many of the flowers and vegetables we love here in the states are actually tropical plants. That means unless they are very hardy, like cosmos, or marigold, they probably won't do well just planting them in the ground until it becomes "tropical" day and night, a short time for us here in the mountains. that's why so many people start there plants indoors, or buy established plants to set out in the garden.

TGG, I suspect many of the seeds you planted were simply planted too early. If you read the seed packets, they will frequently read "after ALL danger of frost is past". From what you have described with your near frosts, I suspect that is the case. You'll find that as a gardener, there is a lot of trial and error, and that's actually part of the fun, the mystery of what works, and what doesn't.

Happy gardening

Your impatiens will not tolerate frost, at all. They also don't like to be in the sun. I'm guessing they may be the ones that are dead. Marigolds are tough as nails... they should be good til winter.

The seeds will come...it's early still.

Thanks again guys. I will be patient, and I will keep watering. It rained a little bit earlier and it's kinda drizzly, so that's a good thing.

I think the impatients are the ones that are dead... hmm. Oh well. Maybe later this month I'll replant some.

Another flower that looks completely dead are these little blue flowers... the stems are really long and kind of flop all over the place. I didn't think they even looked healthy when I bought them, but I was hell-bent on having blue flowers... so I guess my hard head did me in again. Anyone have a clue what they were? They looked sort of like forget-me-nots, except more blue than purple.

I think my Ritz Blue plant is dead too... anyone know anything about them?

What you describe sounds like a pansy. You could do a google graphic search to confirm.

If they look like pansies, but are smaller, then they are violas, or Johnny Jump-ups.

Everything is growing well at the moment, and lots of my bedding plants are now outside hardening off,but there is a threat of frost for this weekend acording to the forecast, never easy is it hope you are all keeping busy ....below the frogs are taking in the sun and recharging their batteries after a succesful spawning season ...

My old rhodo is still looking good after 35 years,it slowly turns to pink before losing its flowers, but what a sight it is in springtime ....

Telecom, love all the frogs!!

Frank, beautiful as always!! We have been on the soggy side here, rain, rain and more rain . I can barely get outside to get anything done.. We have had one decent day out of the last nine.. Cold too about 47 degrees...

The sad part is I work at an school, now think about having to deal with almost 300 students ( k-6th) who have been cooped up for a few days !! All I can say is TGIF!!

I have a mystery plant/flower... First the story I have a crawl space under my house and we had a pipe leaking water so of course we had to fix it and " the guys" found this growing under the house.. It was growing in total darkness so it doesn't have the nice green color it should have.. Anyone have any ideas what it could be?? It does have the same kind of bulbs /roots as a standard orange lilly..
