Penny, I have missed seeing you around these parts! I thought those Bonsai people snatched you away forever! Just kidding you a bit, I know how much you enjoy many types of different gardening!
Sounds like your garden and plants are doing as lovely as always!

Grey with heavy wet snow today

Take care everyone!

Chari

So far this is the only gardening I've done - no time for anything else. But I'd like to grow my own tea so I'm looking into that right now.

Hello Chari.

Thanks very much. Nice to be back. I'll post more as things begin to grow.

I love the trees in your garden Davey - are they Cedars, the big ones, or spruce?

Penny.

Greetings to my gardening friends. I'm not sure what I'll be up to this year, as I've fallen madly in love, and it is likely we'll be buying a home 200 miles away, and creating a new gardening space. I did create a new raised rock bed that sits about 3.5' above the level ground. It is full of tulips, and daffodils. I also planted several trees, and shrubs, and placed bulbs around them in the fall, so it will be interesting to see all the new plants. I'll probably create a very nice garden, so that the outside of the house presents well in order to sell it rapidly.

I also found a lime green peony, and a apricot colored rhodedendron, but doubt they'll bloom the first year.

Happy gardening everyone.

Chari, I haven't spoken of it much, just a brief mention of it in the Loss thread. I met Alda as she was selling her house of 20 years through my cleaning service. Apparently, one of the most romantic things I said to her early on, as she was lamenting the loss of her garden was that I'd be glad to share mine with her.

Only another gardener could appreciate this

Hello Chari. My bonsai are snoozing away the winter. I did knock a cascading juniper out of its pot by mistake today - will put in in something stronger. I was in a nasty, black plastic thingie. We have a very good "Random" side on the BonsaiHelp site, too. I started a "Tea Shoppe". It's a relatively small community, compared with this, but fun.

Nice to see Carole and Jaki enjoying their "gardening", Frank.

Dry but cold, with the bird's water and ponds frozen again this morning - temperatures have been going down to -2 or -4 Centigrade in the mornings.

Hi Chari........

You've got the gardening bug started again , good for you

The crocus are in flower here already......

Won't be long now before we are back in full swing, was only saying to Carole the other day how the grass has grown, it looks like it needs mowing ( IN JANUARY )

Still very mild but wet here, we have been getting record high temp's.

Saw the hummer yesterday, he's been here all winter again .

cu later, take care,

Frank.

Penny always good to hear that you are busy doing things that you enjoy! Sorry to hear about your plant mishap. I know how you feel, I have a wooden beam that runs under my skylight and one day wee one went to pull a leaf ( she was sitting on the upstairs landing) and knocked the whole thing down, it was about a 8 foot fall for the plant! The pot cracked and now the plant is in a pink plastic wastebasket!

LittleMar, your garden area is cute!! I love the little gazing ball!

Frank, Good to hear about the little hummer! I am a bit jealous that you get to see them in January and I have to wait til Spring... Luckily the wait is worth it

Think Spring everyone!

Hello Chari, Frank and All.

Some plants are incredibly hardy and put up with all sorts of mistreatment.

Woof, Wave, Woof, Jaki.

He does look such a "Distinquished" member, Frank. What sort of computer does he have?

Any dahlias on the horizon? What with your incredible climate, I thought you might have some growing already.

Nothing much to report here - except the miniature crocus shoots have doubled in size, soon have flowers.

I'm wondering when to cut back the clematis I have, think I need to wait until spring really begins.

I don't think it makes any difference when you cut the clematis, as it is currently dormant. Some clematis require being cut back, some should not be. Depends upon type.

Howdy, Penny. Been too long.
