Excellent, Frank! My nieghbour uses large plastic bottles for that purpose.

Here are some photos of the roses. I planted my runner beans and courgettes in the rain that was falling this morning. It is much needed.

The first two are of the climbers in the back garden, roses and wisteria; the red rose is "Etoille de Hollande"; next are "Gloire de Dijon" and "Abraham Darby" (only one flower at present),;and "Golden Shows" on the arch round my front door.

Hope you enjoy them.

Very nice!

After that, I'm a little hesitant to post my pic.

Oh well, it's spring finally, and after 6+ months of nothing, it looks good to me.

Thanks for pointing the way to where the photos were Frank I think there are 390 in total so Ive gone a bit cross-eyed looking through them all, there are as you say some excellent photos in there,I was of course particularly interested in Kew

We have rain around at the moment for the next 2 days, and when its gone will be putting my Dahlias in the ground, some of them are over a foot high now in their pots and are begging to be planted ...

Hello Trekguy, Frank, Bob.

Thanks. Yes, a lot of photos, but I don't expect I'll do that same holiday again, so took the opportunity to take photos to help me remember. I'm a compulsive "snapper", anyway!

It took a week to edit them all and get them onto Webshots. I can view them at home using the slideshow option in "Picasa", which is fun.

Very strong winds today, drying everything, which isn't what we need. The suns out now (1.16 p.m. Tuesday).

Hello everyone! All the Spring pictures look great! I have been busy getting my hands dirty, pulling weeds, preparing the flower beds for when the time is right to plant annuals. I planted a couple mulberry trees, one already has little buds on it! Mulched the front flower bed, and added a couple more primroses. Spring is devine!!

Penny, don't get discouraged if those yellow toms don't sprout right away.. I was watering my starter tom plants this morning and noticed that one of the yellow toms finally sprouted, 3 weeks behind the rest of my starters.. Guess they take awhile to sprout!

Happy Gardening everyone!
Chari

WOW !!!! Bob your Dahlias are well ahead of mine, my potted ones are only about six inches... we need some warmer weather to boost them, It's been unseasonably cool this Spring, I leave my potted ones in the pots, this way I can move them around and change the look of the garden, if you know what I mean..... the ones I left in the ground wintered over fine they are starting to show, everything else doing very well even though it is still cool, the forcast say warmer temp's ahead........but I'm not holding my breath, well must get started big gardening day ahead, weather permitting....... ttfn and don't forget, keep getting those hands dirty........HAGO......

Hello Chari.

Success! I saw them at the nursery the other day and they've sprouted and are growing well. Nice to hear about your gardening. Good luck with it. I didn't do much today, deadheaded the odd rose flower. Still not up to par, with a cold.

Probably the reason they are so large is that they have been in the greenhouse for the last 4 weeks I had to put them in there because they were sprouting dry so much, unfortunately the pots they are in are just not big enough to leave them in permanently, looking back now I wish I had put them into my larger container pots, but that would have left me having to buy more for my Summer bedding plants etc .....forecast for today is for heavy rain lasting several hours,so hoping it does come and will have the Dahlias in the garden by the weekend more later Bob
