#91 | This is my army of natural slug killers they only arrived 6 days ago and look at them, cannot count how many as they submerge when approached,at least 30 here ...Im not sure the pond size will be able to sustain the amount of spawn appearing this year ..........

#94 | I'm having to use containers, and shelfs and such, to get them high enough to receive enough sunlight, but I should be eating my first tomatoes in about 22 days. I live in El Cajon, California.
When I lived on the coast the tomato plants never died, but the tomatoes would take a long time to ripen during the winter.
I'm not from here so this still fascinates me. | | Distinguished Member with 9,405 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2001 Location: West Midlands (UK) Experience: Intermediate |

#96 | Hi braddy wish we had your climate over here ...I grow my tomatoes from seed because I like to be able to say I grew those from seed, and at the moment they (the seedlings) are just about 2 inches high without being able to heat a greenhouse we have a very restricted season Im afraid,it would be too expensive to heat a greenhouse to get the earlier start ....as long as the weather helps though we usually manage a decent crop, but it will be some months yet before we see a ripe tomato ......

#102 | Hello everyone.
Jaki looks as though he makes a good "foreman", Frank! Fancy, it's time to plant your dahlias again! You and Carole are always busy doing something in the garden. All my little bonsai have leaves or buds - they're really into the swing of things. I want to get pelleted feed for them this year to save feeding every few weeks.
I didn't get the grass cut! It's still not had it's first trim of the year and it's damp again today. I can see the stuff growing before my very eyes!
Australia playing South Africa in Johanesburg - watching the cricket on Sky. How did Liverpool do in their last match? Telecome - Do you find the frogs make a lot of noise? I knew someone with a small pond which became jam-packed with frogs and the croaking kept her awake at night. They were loaded into buckets, eventually, and taken to the river. There are herons across the river nearby who would love to know where you are for a free meal - do you have problems like that?
Far too early for tomatos here, though people wil be starting them off in greenhouses soon. I've gone off tomatos in recent years because they seem to be so tough-skinned, though I enjoy the very small ones.
Celandines appeared the other day. Walked one day and none to be seen, went out the following day and their lovely yellow stars were everywhere. My clematis have all begun to bud. Fingers crossed that we don't have late, heavy frosts.
Good gardening, everyone.
Penny.

I dig them when they finish, wash them off, split them, spread them out on newspaper to dry off, then wrap them like '' fish & chips '' in newspaper, put them in a cardboard box and put them in a cool dry place to over winter, it always works for us..
Here are some of last years, the tale one is called '' Queen '' grows very tall as you can see.....

#105 | Hi everyone,
No reports on the garden yet. Just now it's been warming way up enouugh to garden. I'm going to have to finish puling up the weeds soon or I'll be too late
But all the shrubs and thiings are flowering up now So pretty.
Take care,
~TGG

While the wolf waits below, hungry and lonely,
Crying out to the moon, "If only, if only."
"If only, if only." The moon speaks no reply
Reflecting the sun and all that's gone by.
Be strong, my weary wolf, turn around boldly.
Fly high, my baby bird, my angel, my only.
