#197 | Peace In The Strom...
Life can seem unbearable at times. Physical pain, difficult decisions, financial hardships, the death of a loved one, or shattered dreams threaten to engulf us. We become fearful and perplexed. Plagued by doubts, we may even find it difficult to pray.
Those of us who know the Lord through personal faith in Christ have in Him a calm retreat in the storms of life, even while the howling winds of trials are sweeping over us. We can experience peace of mind and calmness of spirit.
Richard Fuller, a 19th-century minister, told of an old seaman who said, "In fierce storms, we must put the ship in a certain position and keep her there". Said Fuller, "This, Christian, is what you must do....You must put your soul in one position and keep it there. You must stay upon the Lord; and come what may—winds, waves, cross seas, thunder, lightning, frowning rocks, roaring breakers—no matter what, you must hold fast your confidence in God’s faithfulness and His everlasting love in Christ Jesus."
Do not feel overwhelmed by your troubles? Learn a lesson from that old sailor. Fix your mind on the Lord. Ask for His help. Then trust Him to give you peace in your storm. (Read Phil 4:6-7).
Remember — "The secret of peace is to give every anxious care to God." | | Distinguished Member with 20,246 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: USA Experience: Intermediate |

#199 | Please pray for a friend of mine suffering from cancer. She had a breast removed a couple of years ago and refused chemo. She has been doing herbal treatment and it has not worked. I tried to encourage her to do chemo, but she refused it. She is now in hospice on pain medication. She still has faith that she will be cured. She needs prayer. | | Always remembered in our hearts with 82,246 posts. | | Join Date: Apr 2002 Location: Goddess of Random/Resident Ang Experience: Learning it all here! |

This was 7 years ago but I know hospice was a great help to my mother and sisters who did the primary care for my dad in the last weeks at my parents apartment.
If you get a good hospice organization they should be able to help get thru this. | | Distinguished Member with 66,586 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: California Experience: Intermediate |

She is terminal and I don't think she believes/accepts it. Very heartbreaking. All I can do is give her support. | | Always remembered in our hearts with 82,246 posts. | | Join Date: Apr 2002 Location: Goddess of Random/Resident Ang Experience: Learning it all here! |
