Let me explain... if you have suffered a great loss, the initial feelings are sorrow, sadness, disbelief, after a while these feeling change when there has been a period of adjustment, you can then become depressed because of the on going feelings of sadness and become unable to focus on the present which can spiral into depression so easily.
A bereavement affects different people in different ways, I have got through my bad patch but unfortunately my mom now has to take anti depressants due to the loss of her daughter and whatever the "web definition" says, theres a very thin line dividing grief and depression and its a line that is easy to cross.
Id be interested to hear other views on the subject as the state of depression can originate from several sources, perhaps the loss of a job and unable to make ends meet, loneliness, breakdown of a relationship, it isnt necessarily down to feelings of self hate or low esteem, it can simply be due to a great upheaval in your life that changes you somewhat. Btw sorry if Ive hijacked the thread, I just wanted to address this issue, perhaps a thread should be started re - depression and its causes, it may actually help someone someday

Jeez, personal relationships that sour can be just as painful as the death of a loved one.

Bonnie this must be a really tough time for you, double whammy sort of thing, eh?
"That's right Lord, throw it on me, I can take it!" Life often seems unfair, and often is, but we're all in this together and none of us will get out alive. (sends postive vibes to counter cynical philosophy)

Though I have never had to suffer a divorce, I have had several loved ones taken from me far too soon.
I think the pain, confusion, anger and self-pity and self-blaming is not much different for each of us. It is all THERE inside you, like it or not, whatever the reason or cause.

To everyone that has posted, I give my prayers for you, my positive vibes (when I can muster enough good vibes to share ), and a heartfelt hope that things will resolve for the best.

For everyone.

double whammy indeed. LOL...I have said those very words....."That's right Lord....throw it on me....I can take it" Who knew He was listening But the support of friends is so valuable. It makes all the difference. And I am very blessed with lots of people that care. So my blessings I share.

Thanks Bonnie .. U2 ..

So far as depression goes... it is said to be a sort of self-hate... ...probably because we feel guilty of something... however, we must remind ourselves that whatever we did, when we did it, was the best option at the time. In retrospect, we may think that we should have done something else... but that is because that we now have additional information... if we had to do it over again, with the information we had then, we would do the same thing again... so there is no sense in feeling guilty for what we did...
In my case it's genetic .. long family history ..

When I get under to much stress I forget to eat and take my medicine .. Not a good combo..

I also lost my best friend this year .. Not a day goes by where I don't think about and miss my grandad ..

I think the only good that will come out of this is I am learning more about Empathy ..

Thanks For Your Prayers
