It was one of the first things I learned in driver's ed. But since then I've had to remind both of my parents of this obvious (to me anyway) but unwritten rule. OR is it written? I know there are some highways with "Slower traffic keep right" signs. I don't know if those are enforceable or not. I'd imagine so. And I certainly do wish.
When I reminded my Dad (who claims to be the World's Best Driver

), his defense was that he was already exceeding the speed limit. I said that it doesn't matter because if you're driving 75, then the person behind you will drive 74, and if it keeps going, you will clog up traffic. The entire point of this rule is so that traffic can flow at different speeds... and that prevents backups.
I live in Dallas. And I spend a lot of time sitting in traffic.

I can tell the difference between construction traffic & accident traffic. I can tell when we have traffic because of a lane reduction or the worst one.... a curve in the road.

I have a lot of time to think about what causes traffic. Unfortunately.
