I don't know if those are enforceable or not. I'd imagine so. And I certainly do wish.
When I reminded my Dad (who claims to be the World's Best Driver ), his defense was that he was already exceeding the speed limit. I said that it doesn't matter because if you're driving 75, then the person behind you will drive 74, and if it keeps going, you will clog up traffic. The entire point of this rule is so that traffic can flow at different speeds... and that prevents backups.
I live in Dallas. And I spend a lot of time sitting in traffic. I can tell the difference between construction traffic & accident traffic. I can tell when we have traffic because of a lane reduction or the worst one.... a curve in the road. I have a lot of time to think about what causes traffic. Unfortunately.

#1727 | Lol @ Di
Here in Las Vegas, on the I-15 (more commonly known to Candy as the road to Fry's Electronics ) ---- no matter what time of day, what day, what kind of weather, etc. THERE IS ALWAYS a slow down at the exit known as "Spring Mountain." Now, it's true that one lane is dropped there, but, give me a break....DOES NOT EVERYONE KNOW THAT???????????? CAN WE NOT MERGE in advance???????? If you KNOW you want to get off there, WHY NOT BE IN THAT LITTLE LANE THAT IS GOING TO DISAPPEAR

So, does your dad drive backwards as good as he can drive forwards?? (My grandpa jokes that they should build a special transmission just for him...with three reverse gears and three forward gears... sadly, it's about the truth... )

We have the same problem here, but I haven't had to deal with it in a while... but I'm about to have to deal with it again when I move.... Not only does I35 go from 3 lanes down to 2 (without an exit only lane), about a mile after that, it makes about a 25 or 30 degree curve (right where Dallas Dr forks off if you would like a visual aid ) And it never fails, you will see nothing but brake-lights every day, all day and it causes backups for miles. It's astounding.
Of course my other peeve is the small city down to the south who always plops a cop on the freeway during rush hour... causing everyone to slam on their brakes. Causing more problems than they're solving, that's for sure. Hate.

#1736 | I don't know? I hate flyers and free newspapers clogging up my mail box, too but now I need some eyeglasses flyers to compare prices and there have been lots of them in the past. Two of my sons need glasses ASAP and of course, this week, there are nothing but gardening and outdoor furniture adverts. | | Distinguished Member with 95,164 posts. | | Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: UK Experience: I'm learning all the time |
