I can be.... but after some coffee, k? I mean, I have worked there for over six years. It was established long ago that I am not a morning person and I don't make niceties with anyone before 9am.

Peeve: Intangible items that you can't get refunds for. If I drop a class because I'm unable to teach myself the class, and the teacher isn't doing any teaching either, I should be able to get my money back...PERIOD.

I'm sick of paying so-called "quality" institutions a good amount of money so that they can do a "half-@ssed" job. If I screw up and don't get my money's worth, it's one thing, but it's a whole new ball game when the issue is on their end--especially when it's been a problem for 35 years!! Do they think that 35 years of students complaining about this professor is just because they are lazy and don't want to do the work? Even the straight A students that aren't even pulling in C's??

Something is wrong with this picture and someone needs to pull their head out of their you-know-what and do something about it! I'm tired...maybe school isn't worth it. I'm so frustrated with this class that is supposed to be a "cornerstone" to my degree, I'm just ready to quit! I've never been a bad student, I've always liked school, studied hard (except my first year of college, but I learned my lesson), and I've never had so much trouble with a teacher or a class in my life! And then to find that this same "teacher" is the only one teaching (Ha!) the classes I need after this class as well??! I think I'm done...apparently finishing school isn't meant to be my thing after all.

What is in the cat's territory must have the cat's mark. And the stronger other scents, the more effort is required on the part of the cat.

Hi FG

Sorry to hear about the probs at school. Can you change instructors/get into another class?

Short of transferring schools I don't think so--I know that she's the only one that teaches this class...and also the classes above this one. They made her "take a break" once and had another instructor take over...the students had a better semester, and even the students that went on and had her back again for Intermediate Accounting II did better after the other guy taught the class for that year. I don't know why they don't just permanently replace her for *at least* this class. Probably something to do with tenure though--I know she's got it, but I'm not exactly sure of what all it entails (aside from a guaranteed position, that is).

I don't know, I filled out the drop form yesterday, got it approved, but haven't turned it in...I'm thinking I'll turn it in, but I REALLY don't want to take this class over again--even if I could transfer and get a better teacher....the work is hard, but her lack of skills make this class more difficult than it should be. I can do the work, my advisor knows I can do the work, and my family is having trouble understanding why I'm doing so badly this semester....but you can only teach yourself so much before you run out of basics to go off of, know what I mean?

I know exactly what you mean. My sons experienced this prob in HS and college. My youngest always complained that the TA did the instructing not the professor. He'd say: "why am I paying full tuition when I get taught by an assistant"?

Hi FG...I replyed to your PM, but I didn't know that you would be having to deal with this bad teacher again after this class, unless there's another school you can go to, I don't know what to say

Tenure it's just so wrong education is so important and having a bad teacher at a critical point in your school years can really affect your future it just needs to be changed

LOL! Been there, done that, have the T-shirt!! (I don't actually have a t-shirt, but I should!)

It's kind of along the same lines as Doctors....why am I paying the DR this exhorbitant amount when all he did during the labor was watch TV while the nurse did all the work? When I had my son, the ONLY thing my "doctor" did was stitch me up after the hard part was over! I should be paying the nurse that delivered the baby, NOT the TV watching DR who just stared at the screen until AFTER the baby was born.... An episode of Three's Company (or whatever) and four stitches is NOT deserving of $2,000--plus what the hospital charged for their facilities/services...

I guess though...such is life.

Got your PM--and responded.

I agree with you on the tenure thing...I wish there was a way to get rid of it altogether. I also wish I knew of a way to get something done with this class--either get a refund, or help out future generations with this class...I'd be happy if I could even just prevent this from happening to someone else.
