That would rule out any chance of detection of a radio message telling a driver to 'ease off'.

But generally there is a lead driver and a secondary driver. The lead driver is frequently id'd by the color of the tower on the roll cage. Ferrari is famous for having a lead driver and a secondary driver; probably more so than any other team. The fact that they haven't really stated anything yet speaks volumes in and of itself.
Again, this is shaping up to be a fun season.

#153 | One driver of the team will have a red camera on the car so the spectators can tell the cars apart since the numbers are nearly invisible at camera distances. For example, Alonso has a red camera and Hamilton's is black.
McLaren works this way: Whoever qualifies fastest gets the choice of strategy, such as how much fuel to carry and subsequently what lap to pit on.
Ferrari worked this way: get the Hell out of Schumacher's way!

#156 | actually, I was thinking JPM for quite possible the most 'interesting' move in motor sports history, and then, to top it off, calling it 'kindergarten' compared to F1.....sure way to win over the southern boys, JP.... | | Community Moderator with 16,982 posts. | | Join Date: Jun 2002 Location: Cowtown, against my will Experience: PHD -poop handling degree |

#157 | So, let me get this straight. JPM moves from the pinnacle of motorsport to where he is now and he feels the right to judge? If he was any good he would be Alonso's team mate. I have no respect for him. Every time he dropped out of a race or finished poorly he always blamed the car or the track or some other driver, never himself. He was a poor loser and too immature to admit to a mistake. I'm glad he is gone; F1 is better off without him.

#158 | He did the same thing in F1. Matter of fact, he crew chief at McLaren said that his sponsor in Nascar should be Mcdonalds, as he was routinely unable to make weight, and as such, the engineers would have to make changes in the balance of the car..... | | Distinguished Member with 4,566 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Austin, TX Experience: In what? ;) |

Spyker’s Christijan Albers took on the might of the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) on Friday. The Dutch driver raced a F16 fighter jet, piloted by RNLAF pilot Captain Ralph Aarts, in a straight-line speed contest at Volkel air base, in the south of Holland.
Intially it looked as though Albers had the advantage as he accelerated quickly away from the start line in the Dutch team’s F8-VII, leading the F16 over the early stages. But over the final 700m of the 1 kilometre run, the plane pulled ahead to win the race by just two car lengths.
“It was a tight race, for the first 300m all I could see was the plane in my mirrors, but then he just accelerated past me and off into the distance - it was incredible!” explained Albers. “I'd never been close to an F16, or even sat in one, so it was really interesting to compare the performance of the two. Aside from the displays though, Ralph and his team do some brave work out there, I have a lot of respect for them.” | | | Account Disabled with 52 posts. | | Join Date: Apr 2007 Experience: Im Smarter Than You |
