Surprise, surprise, Kimi leads the testing times....

#109 | Ferrari 1, Mclaren 2.
Ferrari 3, Mclaren 4.
Dream freakin' grid. And I knew Massa was as fast as Raikkonnen, glad to see it prove out. Dunno if Kimi's engine will last the race. Also vaguely surprised that Renault are having such a difficult time gathering it up. Proves just how much good Alonso really is, imo......
Go Scuderia! More specifically, go Massa!
man, I love this stuff.

#110 | And what do you say now? McLaren 1-2, Ferrari, BMW, Ferrari. I knew Alonso would pull this one out. Massa made some STUPID moves in trying to pass Hamilton. On the second attempt, it was just ridiculous how wide he ran. | | Community Moderator with 32,942 posts. | | Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Texas Experience: cp/m --> |

#111 | yeah, that sort of sucked. I canNOT believe massa let the BOTH through.......I will give it up to hamilton, though....that kid is doing to F1 what Tiger did to golf a decade ago....coming out of nowhere and just absolutely being as cool as a cucumber under pressure....Raikkonen needed 1 more lap, and I think he would've passed him.
Yeah, massa.......sheesh......I would've expected that from him 3 years ago, but not now......he'll be hearing about that for a bit.....

#112 | The first move was a good one if only he had been closer and in the slip stream. If he had held off until a long straight, he woulda had Hamilton. As far as Raikkonen, I don't know how close he was. I started watching my copy of it last night and fell asleep about 15 minutes into it. However, I turned off the computer screen so all I had was sound. Nothing like going to bed with F1 engines screaming around.
Oh, and KUDOS TO HEIDFELD! BMW finally gave him a car in which he can push the front runners and score some much needed points. | | Community Moderator with 32,942 posts. | | Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Texas Experience: cp/m --> |

#114 | Are there any motor sports which are truly a test to assess who is the best driver ? Fact is that Minardis / Toro Rosos / Strykers, etc are not setting out on a level footing.
Certainly Schumacher was the best driver of his time, since he won in more thn just Ferrari cars ... yet the fact remains, that the biggest 'names' are in far better cars than the rest of the grid | | Distinguished Member with 4,566 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Austin, TX Experience: In what? ;) |

#115 | That is in Hamilton's dirty air and Raikkonens cars was certainly not enjoying that. His only chance woulda been by closing the gap on the final corner or two and getting close enough to get into the slip stream and pass him.
Better drivers will be recognized by better teams. More often than not, the minnow teams are launching pads for great future drivers. Alonso raced for Minardi before being picked up by Renault. Kimi was picked up by Sauber after only 23 races ever. Other examples do exist, but I hope you get the idea.

He was carving HUGE chunks out of his lead in the closing laps.....like a second or so a lap faster.....kimi loved the harder compound, and hamilton was sliding all over the place.
