Are you kidding? That's real life--that's real drama--triple overtime is something you just can't buy--unlike AI, that makes fools out of people to entertain the masses in America, a sporting event that has that kind of drama is precious--nothing pretend about it.

'Idol' Returns With a Ratings High

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- "American Idol" is back and bigger than ever. The Fox TV talent contest's season premiere was the most-watched in its six-year history, drawing an estimated 37.3 million viewers Tuesday, according to preliminary ratings from Nielsen Media Research.

That represents a 5 percent increase over last year's record premiere audience of 35.5 million, qualifying it as the best debut ever for Fox, the network said. Final ratings will be released next week.

"American Idol' continues to make entertainment history," Simon Fuller, the series' creator and executive producer, said in a statement Wednesday. "These amazing numbers from our season-six premiere defy all reasonable expectations."

Uhhhhh---apparently you didn't read my post to Di about ratings--high ratings does not equal "non-stupid!" The show has always been and always will be stupid--people like it because there's a bunch of losers that get ragged on by Simon and there is a "winner" in the end that triumphs over all the adversity--but its still stupid!

Angel--I'm NOT saying its not entertaining--its obviously VERY entertaining or it wouldn't have such good ratings. As I said, I still enjoy watching the 3 stooges, which can be hugely entertaining to me. I loved Rat Race which really is low brow stupid humor throughout the movie. All I am saying is don't confuse entertaining with sophisticated, quality entertainment. American Idol is NOT sophisticated, quality entertainment--it really is much closer to the Threes Stooges than it is a drama like CSI or E/R. I also love Desperate Housewives, which is NOT sophisticated, quality entertainment--that show is much closer to American Idol. There are different reasons to like different programs, but let's not pretend what you are watching AI for, OK?

Hi Angel! I thought the brother sister act was good. He is the better singer. Some people see themselves in a different light from what they really are, and will never "see the light".

I used to feel sorry for them, but not anymore. Now I just laugh and enjoy.
