#1458 | Yes harry i can say AOL=HELL. The person on the other end of the problem uses AOL, is the only person i expierience this with (they are not computer literate by any means) so they dont know that aol is crap. They use the mcafee stuff too. I say if i ever look at the computer they will discover the power of avg and how much faster a system is with virus protection in a much smaller package.

#1461 | Hi everyone
Got HOT FRESH coffee and tea made. Yes SC the coffee is hot and fresh so don't ?????.
Wow YM look at all the goodies to eat. Thank you so much. I got your tea ready too.
Here your coffee frank.
He hee tech you can say it. Best thing about AOL is it is not on my PC or is mcafee.
I got and like AVG. Only one bug I have that I have seen twice now. Once long ago and once last night is when I ran Mailwasher and the comcast email server was down you get a email scanner thing down by the clock over top the taskbar that I have never seen any other time. It stays there too and you also get the another AVG icon that looks the same as the one that is always there but you can not right click or do anything with it. To clear all up I have to reboot.
Guess it gets stuck when it can get to the server but then gets no reply. | | Distinguished Member with 37,126 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: Corn Fields of OHIO Experience: Einstein Jr. Indeed |

#1465 | I know i need to change it but i like the screenname! I dislike mcafee because it is such a resource hog. The scanning engine does run like a dream, if only they stripped it down like avg is then i would not mind having it on my system. As for your avg problem. That second icon is the email scanner. I notice it every once in a while in my system whenever i get email. Your trouble is probably what you say because it sees your mail program searching for the server so avg keeps on running scanning data and of course the email system gets hosed up from not finding the server and avg does not know this and gets hosed up as well. I just discovered not too long ago that when i update the program version, its a good idea to uninstall then install as i tried a repair and it messed up the whole setup system. It would say it like would uninstall avg then i would reboot and avg is still in the computer. I finally fixed this by doing system restore back to before i did the repair over avg and i was able to successfully uninstall and install avg. I also do not care for comcast because i think there is way too much downtime with them. I have verizon dsl (will be fios when it becomes availible in my area) and the thing is never down. maybe once in a great whuke the modem gets funny and needs to be reset and the modem is ancient. (had it for about 7-8 years now) and it runs through a linksys wifi/wired lan and a printer is on the lan. Never has downtime. I will get this aol problem fixed. For the time being, i have my new and old screen name linked in case the regular has problems i can use the old to talk to them. But i want to permanently fix the problem which will be a new screen name most likely.
Prom dvd is almost finished. Then i want to send the video file to everyone so they can tell me if there is anything i should change which i will then burn the final.
HAGO
