You know, when all you want to do is verbally rip someone a new one.... total silence tends to drive them crazy... or at least saying what you need to say in as few words as possible. It's a fun game! Anyhoo... when I'm done with the "silence is golden" treatment (which is handy because no one can hold anything against me), I then proceed to do ONLY what is specifically outlined in my job description. I am more than willing to go outside the lines of my particular job description, but not if people are going to take advantage of it.
And if THAT doesn't work, I like my new approach.... "I can either do [yet another time-wasting inane task that anyone can do] or I can do [something vastly more important and unique to my position]. Which would you like?" Because THEN if you don't get the more important task done.... you have that person to reference and say, "Well [Mr. Boss Man] asked that I do this other thing instead." With a smile, of course.
My random thought today.... houses. On continuous loop. And that patio set I saw on the Sam's Club website today... it had a fireplace in it... and it was only $700! Freakin sweet! If only I could trust myself around fire, I'd be all about it!

#141 | Di, that is all fine and dandy and usually what I do. But when this person complains to the HR director about my performance, then I get upset. He came by about an hour ago to apologize. Quote: |

#145 | Why was I just given a time card for work? I am salary...
If my boss thinks he is going to make me do a time card and stay on salary, he's got another thing coming. I will immediately jump right over his head. I've got enough dirt on him to get him in some real trouble. I'd like to play nice, but I guess he doesn't want to... | | Distinguished Member with 4,566 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Austin, TX Experience: In what? ;) |

#146 | Could he be trying to find a way to fire me? Still, I'll go up and over, I have no qualms about it. I'm trying to leave on good terms...

#147 | I'm salary and I have to fill out a time sheet. My guess is so they can keep up with vacation & sick time? But if you'd never had to do one before, I agree, that's weird.
You are going to love Austin. But you probably already knew that.
I think I decided on a house last night! Now I have to read a lot of paperwork! YAY!!!
