Well, I feel sure the parents themselves may well think that. Never the less, let's hope and pray for a safe return of this 3 year old tot

Well maybe I'm missing something but ...

... the kid is 3, I think (hope "is" still applies). A "toddler", at any rate. Anyway ...

"She went missing from her bedroom in a holiday apartment in the town of Praia da Luz while her parents were eating in the hotel dining room 40 yards away."

So even if the apartment had been secure on "the outside", it's OK to leave a toddler to its own devices?

(EDIT: sorry Donna, missed your post)

The blame lies squarely at the feet of the person who took her.

I knew what you meant BM.

It's difficult saying anything about the parents for me. They seem good parents and they will pay enough within themselves whether there's any wrong or not in what they did. No-one can make it any worse for them so there's no point in my view.

For the abduction, yes. I was commenting on the other aspect -- I looked at one of Oldie's links & was thrown to read that the toddler was left to her own devices. Surely "one" wouldn't do that period. (?)

From an Oldie link:

"Restaurateur Pedro Sales, summed up the feeling among many residents: "I am a father myself and I would never leave a child alone. I do not understand why they did this, they are a good couple, both doctors."
