The importance of ethos in civ-deb. I've noticed that certain people spawn disagreement when the same message from a different mouth would produce agreement.
There's a problem with people of a high ethos as well though - they get ignored. People like MSM Hobbes and iltos, who listen to all before formulating their message, seem to get ignored by those interested in debate.
Seems to me there has to be some "middle-ground" between having so little ethos that you attract a lot of attention but no agreement(even when the truth is
clearly on your side), and having lots of ethos but attracting no attention to your speech.
