Do you know who Mr. Dressup is? I saw the Mr. Rogers & Cap'n Kangaroo thread. Luke totally loves Mr Rogers and watches the reruns every morning on PBS. But another awesome show that used to be on was Mr. Dressup. I thought it deserved its own thread because I suspect that a few people might remember and want to add their own favorite parts of the show (or maybe not, lol) Anyone along the northern border probably watched him back between the 70's & the 90's on CBC. I dont know if it ever aired in the US or not but if it didnt...people really missed out.
Luke totally loves Mr. Roger's neighborhood. Besides the Wiggles, its the only show he sits and actually pays attention to the whole way through. I remember feeling the same way about Mr. Dressup who, imo, is far more entertaining than Fred Rogers. lol..I hated the make-believe portion of Mr. Rogers...the puppets were creepy, unlike Casey and Finnegan on Mr. Dressup.
I bought his Tickle Trunk Treasures for Luke but i'd love to find out if there are any reruns still playing. I'd definitely aim my antenna that way to see if I could pick them up! This is the perfect kid show, unlike the modern shows that dont really challenge little ones to use their imaginations. There's lots of cute shows out there...the Wonder Pets, Backyardigans, Blues Clues, Dora the Explorer, the Wiggles...but none of them even come close to touching the greatness of Mr. Dressup and Mr. Rogers as far as education and entertainment goes.
So...who else remembers Mr. Dressup?
Here is a clip to jog the memory... http://archives.cbc.ca/IDC-1-68-1757...ertainment/twt |
