Well, HFS - Phillip Rivers (SD) played Sunday with no ACL! Story Rivers played on knee with ACL 'totally gone'.

He even had arthroscopic surgery the Monday before!

-- Tom

P.S. These are injuries I know a lot about - had three surgeries on my left knee:
One open surgery, and two arthroscopic surgeries. My original injury shredded my ACL,, but the technology didn't catch up until the 2nd surgery and a look at the post-op report by the surgeon confirmed that my ACL was totally gone like Rivers'.

He's a trooper allright - you gotta give him that!

Giants vs. Patriots in the Super Bowl. In a playoff season that's turned upset-happy, New York gets to try for the biggest of them all.

P.S. Yeah, I too was disappointed that GB lost. You gotta admit that everyone's dream of Favre winning the SB against an 18-0 opponent makes for an enticing story - and, Brett could've retired on the spot and walked off into immortal fame! Sigh!

My prediction for the SB: its gonna be an ugly, physical game!
I agree. I feel bad for Brett

Pats fans drive up Super Bowl ticket price

BOSTON, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- New England Patriots fans, sky-high about the team trying to achieve a perfect season by winning Super Bowl XLII, are paying sky-high prices to go to the game.

With the Patriots trying to complete the first-ever 19-0 season against the NFC champion New York Giants, Boston area fans are paying ticket prices several times higher than the face value of $700, the Boston Globe reported Tuesday.

Boston ticket-seller Ace Tickets has tickets for the Feb. 3 game in Glendale, Ariz., starting at $3,200 in the upper-level end zone, and climbing as high as $10,000 each for midfield seats. On StubHub.com, an online marketplace owned by eBay, the average sale price Monday was $4,451 per ticket, higher than last year's $4,004 average price, the Globe said.

This is a question for all who played Madden 08 for PC...Do you use a keyboard whenever you play the game? And when using one does it ruin the gameplay without a PC controller?

Hi ekim68,

The only Pats fans that got access to the $700 tickets were the winners of a lottery of the season ticket holders of the Pats. They picked up their tickets limited to two as I recall at Gillette Stadium the other day.

All of the other prices are due to the fact that there are a limited number of tickets otherwise to the SB after the teams get a share (players, coaches, etc).

In other words, it is a simple case of Supply vs Demand!

Can't deny that the potential of a 19-0 season is the draw for the phenomenon - mostly driven by Patriot Nation here in the NE area. Everyone else wants a spoiler result for the Giants!

Update on Where's Brady from the local Boston news:

Well, we still won't know for sure until next Wednesday when both teams are required to declare their injury lists for the game.

Brady was not at the on-field practice today as far as we know. The press is only allowed 15 minutes of camera time a day, and then are cleared out for the real practice. Brady was presumably in the training room being attended to or looking at game films and going over a game plan with the coaches. He is the offensive field general on the field during the game, as are the defensive field generals on the line, linebackers and secondary.

Its only his push foot, not his plant foot, so it can be wrapped for the game if whatever problem there is persists for the game - he'll be good to go - you can count on it.

And, on the lighter side, both Donte Stallworth and Wes Welker were having fun at the expense of the press by both of them claiming that Belechick privately asked them each to QB on game day - Ha! Meanwhile, it looks like the Giants are still B****ing to the press down in NY about certain so-called dirty play makers on the Pats boo, hoo, hoo! Got pushed around last time did yah - well, you can expect more of the same this time, and in spades since it is for all the marbles, so complain all you want, ain't gonna do you no good in the game.

So, who do you think is going to be ready for the game - the team that has more fun preparing for winning the game, or the team that spends more time B****ing to the press?

Sounds like they're really playing down the Brady injury...Is he hurt more than what we've been told?

What would the odds be without Brady?

Hi ekim68,

I do not know - only the Phantom knows! Remember that radio show - one of my favorites way back when. Wait for the injury reports both teams submit on Wednesday.

The odds are stacked right now with 80% of the bets on the Giants - just a by product of how the odds makers screw around with things to try and manipulate getting an even share of bets on both sides. Most bets are laid down within about 72 hours of the game, so watch what is happening on any website that carries the betting in real time from 3 days before the game.

Wow, I remember Zorn as the gunslinger with the Seahawks in the old days...(Anyone remember Ephren Herrera?)

Zorn Is Named Redskins Head Coach

In a stunning end to the Washington Redskins' coaching search, recently hired offensive coordinator Jim Zorn will be introduced today as the team's next head coach.

Zorn, 54, is a former Seattle Seahawks quarterback and assistant coach. He never has been a head coach and never had been an offensive coordinator in the NFL before the Redskins gave him that job on Jan. 25.
