Fry's Customer Service
Hey guys I just wanted to rant about my recently visit to Fry's. About 2 weeks ago I bought a BFG Nvidia Geforce 7900GT PCI-E x16 video card on sale for 150 with a 50 dollar. When I was about to install it I realized that I only had 1 PCI-E slot and it was already in use. So, I decided to return it, but never got the chance to make the trip until 2 weeks later. Finally I had the time to go to Fry's and attempt to get a refund. I walked in and there was no line for the customer service. One of the employees asked what he could do for me. I told him how I only had 1 PCI-E slot and it was already in use so I asked for a refund. He said no problem and opened the box and examined to see if it was used or anything. After he was done examining the video card he started typing on the computer. Soon he told me to wait a bit and walked off and I waited for approximately 10 minutes. After 10 minute he and some other guy walks up to me and said that one of my "friend" already came in there once today and tried to return the same product. They told me they denied his return because on the back of the video card there is a stick which states "void is removed" my sticker was still there but they said it the sticker was never removed it would be easy to peel off. First, I never used the product in the first place. I just opened the box and looked at the video card and then looked at my computer to find the PCI-E slot. Second, why I would ask a "friend" to return a product that I bought myself. Third, If I did ask my "friend to help me return my product and if he got denied, why would I go back myself and try to get a refund. I find the story the Fry's employees gave me is very suspicious and they just didn't want to give me the refund. I have asked around forums about Fry's return policy and everyone seemed to very satisfied. Maybe the Fry's closet to me is one of those rotten eggs you find a pack of 12 dozen eggs. Just had to get that off my chest.

Is there another video card in the PCI-E slot? Take it out and put in the new one... problem solved!

You can also escalate it to their Regional Mgr and that usually will get them to budge. If not take it to their corporate level. The further you escalate it the more eyes that see the more likelihood there is that you will get a resolution.

I do not want to go back a second time and try to get it returned because school just started for me and I have no transportation because my brother is the one who drives me there and he just went back to college. I am thinking about filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

You want to escalate it higher before filing it with the BBB. I used to work retail management and advise that you do this before contacting them. Did you talk to the store manager when you were there or just the manager on duty?
