Hi, Bea ~

How are you feeling? How's the weather there? It's about 45 and sunny here.

Gabriel, I have a relative that I sometimes must distance myself from...it is as if this person drains the life out of me emotionally. Very negative person and looking for something to be wrong physically as a way to get attention. She has had all kinds of blood work and tests done and nothing is wrong. Her dr asked her if she was depressed and she was adamant that she isn't...I think she actually enjoys this. I have several physical problems I wish I didn't have and would gladly give them to this relative but that is not possible. I am so thankful for the good days where not much seems to go wrong and don't understand why some people live for the chaos, sickness and negative. So be thankful it is a friend and not relative. And distance does help...we can build ourselves up before having to deal with them again.

Thanks Bea for this thread. Sometimes we all need that chance to talk and get things off our chest.

About frienships:

I was chatting with a bank teller about just this subject several months ago. She told me she had to jettison a needy friend after she blew through a $100,000. settlement in 6 months, and then began complaining.

Years ago I went through those that were close to me. I asked myself whose diapers would I change, which really whittled down the group. Then I asked myself the question, who would change mine. It wa a moment of clarity.

BTW, Bea was not in my life then, but she makes the cut today

*HUGS* back at you, Bea! I'm doing fine. Just relaxing today... did some laundry.. took a nap (oh yeah!)... hanging out with the hubby... Soon I'll start getting things ready for work tomorrow. I usually get up at 5:15 a.m. I could get up a bit later, but then I would feel rushed! In the morning I usually take time for a quick cup of coffee... watch the news/weather... let the dog out... let the dog back in... feed the dog and cat..... shower, dress, etc. Then it's off to work.. about a 20 minute drive. I like to get there before my start time, so that I can sit down and catch my breath and prepare for the day ahead. I have my system down pat now! Been doing it for so many years! Once the snow starts to fly... I have to adjust my get up time earlier by about 20 minutes to be safe! Not really looking forward to that... but this is Michigan.... and it's part of life!

Today was turkey day for everyone here....we made a 20 Lb. bird. It was on sale at Safeway (no I don't work for Safeway, this is not SPAM) for $7.88....
What a great deal.
Gene did the bird (even stuffed it)

Good morning, Bea ~ I'm the Account Clerk for the high school. I take care of ALL the money that flows in and out of this building! I do all the ordering for supplies, etc., and check everything in each day! I pay ALL the bills associated with the high school... and that involves approx. 100 internal accounts! I do lots of other things too.. but those are the most important!! It's quite a challenge... but I do really love what I do! This is my fourth year here at the high school. Previously.. I was at an elementary school as the #1 Secretary for about 2 years.. and before that I was at the school district's administration building for over 4 years as an Account Clerk there. I'm hoping to make it to retirement within the district... to get a pension and insurance. With all the budget cuts, they have cut positions all across the board... from teachers... to administrators... to secretaries/account clerks! I've been safe so far. I'm in a union... and I have some seniority... that usually means that if my position is eliminated (doubt that!) then I can bump on down the line to another spot. Happens a lot here!

Hi all thought I would share this as it sums up pretty much how I feel

This was written By Regina Brett The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio
The 50 life lessons

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.
17. You can get through anything if you stay put in today.
18. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give things time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.
38. Read the Psalms. They cover every human emotion.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
41. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
42. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
45. The best is yet to come.
46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
48. If you don't ask, you don't get.
49. Yield.
50. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift

Have a wonderful day!!
