Makes for some comfy letter writing in the future.

My other favorite is in the pic...my kids got me 3 new Willow Tree figurines (I collect them), each one representing our relationships.
How old are your kids now Val? I know Luke is two but the others I just can't remember (not even their names)

My kids in order are Monica 23. Jeff 22, and Casey 17. Casey will be 18 on January 5th. My brats are all grown up. I am very close to my girls but Jeff isn't easy to be close to. I think the world of the kid but man he irks me.

I think it might be normal for a guy to be closer to his daughters. Girls are nicer (once they grow up). Mine gave me fits when they were younger but they have turned out to be great people. I am proud of them.

My Christmas came in batches starting around Thanksgiving.
Jacket, 3 sweaters, laptop, digital camera, a beautiful luminary, exquisite oriental style rug, fire opal necklace, a plethora of stone beads for my beading projects. Some of my gifts are from myself, and I save all year for them.
Gene got...Robe, brass and amber glass turtle night lamp, warm gloves, new easel, 2 pairs jeans, warm flannel shirts

Emily will be 13 on January 9th (she is in my profile picture with me and almost as tall as I am already!) Jake is 11 and Luke is 2.

wow, they sure have grown up fast Scott! So far, Jake is close to his dad. They both like to hunt and camp and do outdoorsy together so I think that makes a difference.

Scott, I'm glad you started this thread, it's nice to be able to share. I'm sorry for your son, as it is his loss. Sometimews they eventually get it, and some never do. I have a nephew, my namesake who has lost his relationship with his brother, sister in law, and a niece and nephew because of his selfishness, and many relationships as well, it's just sad. Hopefully, he'll come around.

Sometimes, just consistently modeling caring behavior is enough.

Merry Christmas everyone.

My husband bought me new living room furniture that was delivered Friday afternoon. My oldest daughter bought me a camera and my youngest daughter bought me a new coat. Won't see my son till tomorrow.

My grandchildren gave me candles, cards, a homemade necklace, store bought earrings and a grandma pin. The oldest grandchild gave me a gift certificate to a restaurant. All around I enjoy the presents but I enjoy their gift of love the most. It is priceless.

Skivvy, my son is 36 years old and he went through some rough years and I wondered where are relationship was heading, but now he has settled down and doing good...sometimes it just takes them time to grow up and appreciate what they have and realize they are better off than they think.

I hope Jeff comes out of it. He is a decent person but he is very selfish. I should have tried harder to correct it when he was a little boy but I figured he would grow out of it. Maybe he still will.

New furniture. Wow, I'd love that and I need it. Oh well, I still have a place to sit and sleep. I am fortunate. Many people in this world do not have what I have. I still want new stuff though. Maybe someday I'll be able to swing it. No biggie, but my stuff is pretty shabby and threadbare.

I am low maintenance and that is a good thing. Gimmee and old pair of jeans and a T-shirt and I am happy.

I got a new shirt, a pen knife, and a mini flashlight from my sister's in law. They are good people. I love them.

It would be nice if they came with a manual....but sadly they don't. We do the best with what we have at the time. That's all we have.

Hi, Merry Christmas all! I got a new computer and a 'beers of the world' sampler.

Here's the kicker...please excuse the sappiness, but my best present came at the dinner table. See, my son's been acting a little spoiled all day. He's eight, and a great kid...just acting a little spoiled today. Anyway, we smoked 2 chickens and 2 roasts for the family (wife's parents and such). Sat down to this feast and my kid starts his "how many bites?" etc. Finally, I got sick of it. I said, "kids all over the world don't have anything to eat and no presents. You're sitting here with a loaded plate and complaining, acting like a spoiled brat." He sat there and thought for a few minutes, I could see the wheels spinning. Then, he picks up his fork and starts chowing down. He actually listened and became thankful. That was my favorite present.

Talk abt selfishness. My bro took virtually everything and I mean everything we had (the house, the car, the jewels, the bank deposits)and promised and promised and promised that he'd give it all back. Guess what. He doesn't even respond to our emails, ignores us completely like we don't exist anymore and has left us in the gutter literally. Thanks to him our whole family has been shattered to pieces and we're struggling to survive every single day. Well, this goes beyond selfishness. It's downright treason in my book.

And I didn't get anything nor could I get anything for my mom. Hopefully, things will turn around for the better by next year.

Skivvy,

We needed new furniture too...and this is probably the last we will ever get. At least we hope so....we actually went to get it in October and it had to be ordered cause we wanted a different color than was on the floor...it took this long to get it...and money was running tight this Christmas so my husband and I decided we would just call it Christmas for us. We sold one of our vehicles and used that money to get the furniture. Needed it more than the extra vehicle...although I miss the van cause I could put my motorized scooter in it ...harder to get it into a car. Makes a little more work for my husband, but it will all work out.

Skivvy, you have done well this season...you miss your Becky but I really think she would be proud of the way you are handling things. Those girls are a real blessing to you and I am sure you are to them too. Becky can be smiling down at you right now and thinking how wonderful it is that the girls have you caring for them.

I got some candles from my oldest daughter but haven't seem my youngest yet. Spent Christmas day alone again this year .. Did allot of work and crying. This really sucks. I may have to move away soon. To much drama and stress here. My X didn't even give me back my christmas ornaments I bought the first time she pulled this crap like she promised she would .. I can't keep doing this every holiday. Maybe I can find a place where I can put my skills to work soon and take care of Thor propery. This new apartment is not working out to well. To small and the bathrooms upstairs. I allready have ripped the banister off and busted the towel rack trying to hold myself up. Locked myself out at 3 am the other night also and was told no charge till the guy got here and now I'm told 30 bucks.

I'm really hoping things turn around quick as I'm at my wits end.

Lets hope next year is a better one amd I can meet a nice Christian girl so I don't have to be alone all the time ..

I hope and pray you all had a GREAT Christmas.

David
