what a great show. Maybe its just because I like David A so much but to me, he was so much better than David Cook. David A. sings with so much heart that its just so enjoyable to watch, especially for those of us who love sappy sentimental songs!

One thing that I really love about David C though is that he is so gracious! And did anyone notice that the DC (David Cook) was gone off his guitar and tonight there was an AC...did that stand for Archuleta/Cook perhaps? If so then what a wonderful thing to do!

Also, I thought the whole boxing theme was cheesy!

I think it is pretty close between them, I thought David A. had it all going into the third song. I didn't think "Imagine was as good as the first 2. I'd give him an 8 for "Imagine". But then, I always expected Bush to lose

valley, his guitar always have said AC.

DA's Imagine was worse than the first time he did it.

I want DC to win, but I don't think he has enough votes for it.

Apparently AC is a tribute to his brother Adam who is very ill with cancer.

oh wow, I did not know that! It must be amazingly hard for him to get through this competition with all that he has on his mind. I bet Adam is so proud of him.

I really hope David Cook doesn't win. I don't want him to have to put out a sappy first album, especially not with that "Dream Big" song as his first single. Archuleta is much more the type they want to win - insanely marketable, clean, sincere. I think Archuleta needs a big production studio behind him to write songs and tell him what kind of artist to be. David Cook doesn't as much. He needs their money and advertising, but not all of the canned stuff they like to throw out there. At least Cook got to sing an upbeat song for the writer's song. I told Chris that the "winning" songs usually sound like "schmaltz trite trite, BIG NOTE, trite, sincere emotional ending." Archuleta's song definitely fit the bill.

My only concern is that Archuleta will have a nervous breakdown while making his first album. I'm not at all sure he's ready for this kind of fame. I think Cook would handle it with much more aplomb.

what a fantastic final show! Congrats to David! I truly was shocked but dont begrudge him his victory at all. Both David's are going to sail in their careers, I think.

The final show was a real celebration of music. I thought the right David won, but either of them would make a great Idol, as would Syesha, IMHO.

I was surprised that he won by such a large margin but I'm happy for him too. They both make a good final pair and seem to be so gracious towards each other.

I particularly liked the Gladys Knight and the pips bit.

When Simon apologized to DC, it got me wondering if he was somehow privvy to the results and didn't want it to look like he was so wrong with his assessment the night before.
