I really hope David Cook doesn't win. I don't want him to have to put out a sappy first album, especially not with that "Dream Big" song as his first single. Archuleta is much more the type they want to win - insanely marketable, clean, sincere. I think Archuleta needs a big production studio behind him to write songs and tell him what kind of artist to be. David Cook doesn't as much. He needs their money and advertising, but not all of the canned stuff they like to throw out there. At least Cook got to sing an upbeat song for the writer's song. I told Chris that the "winning" songs usually sound like "schmaltz trite trite, BIG NOTE, trite, sincere emotional ending."

Archuleta's song definitely fit the bill.
My only concern is that Archuleta will have a nervous breakdown while making his first album. I'm not at all sure he's ready for this kind of fame. I think Cook would handle it with much more aplomb.
