some of the contestants looked a lot older than they said they were. The girl from American Youngsters (or whatever that was)...she was only 16? There were a few others too that were teens that looked like they were at least mid to late 20's. A couple looked like they were pushing 40.

The 16 year old was a Britney in the making, she'd heard of humility, but like the word "precocious", didn't know what it meant They did find some genuine talent, and I look forward to the continued show.

last night....the girl who lost her dad a few days before she auditioned...that was very sad. I'm glad she did well but her voice sounded a bit "airless" at times. I loved her sound, but worried that the judges would say no because of it. I look forward to seeing how she does in Hollywood. There are so many good singers but so far, no one has really stood out as a possible winner (to me anyways) I knew when I first saw Taylor Hicks that he would go far. Daughtry too...they were early favorites of mine because they were so unique. The rocker nurse had a good sound too. I cant wait to hear her sing a ballad!

OH OH OH!!

One of the contestants, 18 year old Colton Berry, that made it to Hollywood is from here in my county! (Augusta County, VA) He didn't get a lot of air time (which was very disappointing), but he did make it! He sings in the theater in our town, ShenanArts, and is currently in the ShenenArts production of "the Wiz."

Katherine Boling, a music teacher that has worked with Berry, says: "I think he's going to blow them away," she said. "He looks like this normal kid, but when he starts to sing, he sounds like a seasoned Broadway professional. I think he can mold into anything they want. I've even heard him sing like an opera singer."

Several spoiler Web sites, such as www.tvsquad.com, name him as among the top 24 finalists.

It's shaping up to be an interesting season. There seems to be a lot of real *raw* talent out there.
