I would have been on the phone with Quiznos management to complain, and unless they could cite specific policy regarding such a placement, I would side with your boycott.

#34 | I never add salt to cooking, never have. I never put salt on the table to flavor food, and my guests never ask for it - seems to indicate it's not really needed as an extra?
I think (but don't practice!!) moderation ... easier said than done. My least favorite? Crackers for cheese ... why spoil good cheese with anything else?

It's amazing how much excessive salt is added to many common foods.
Soups for instance.
I wouldn't consider Campbell's soups anymore..... even their reduced sodium products seem high in sodium compared to other brands.
It's as if salt is being used as a cover up for bland/poor tasting foods. | I just use Cambell's Mushroom soup or the Tomato Soup. The mushroom soup, I use in Beef Stroganoff or for a Mushroom gravy. Beef Stroganoff calls for sour cream to make the gravy. So I just use Mushroom soup instead of sour cream.
The tomato soup I use for to put in my tomato sauce. When it finshed cooking. The tomato soup adds consistancy to the tomato sauce. I just don't add anymore salt to the tomato sauce.
My mother too liked her salt. I since have also reduce my salt intake.

#36 | My son's grades were slipping in school. He also has trouble sitting still and is restless a lot in class. His teachers say that he is not disruptive...just inattentive. I talked to a Dr who was covering for our regular Pediatrician one day while we were there for a checkup and he suggested that I put him on ADD meds and said that he has the "classic signs" of ADD. I came home crying over it. I do not want my son on medication at 12 years old!
Instead, I decided to try and alter his diet instead of relying on the drugs. It couldnt hurt, right? Drugs could always come later if they were truly necessary. I know from experience that when I eat too much sugar, bad fats & white products (bread, potatoes, white rice, pasta etc), I feel tired and irritable, not to mention bloated. So I took away all the junk food he was eating and I cut back his sugar intake. Its been a few months now. He has brought his science grade from a 64 to an 86. His teachers are amazed at the difference in him. He can focus much better. All of his other grades are fine and he should be back on the honor role by the last quarter. The only difference has been his diet. No more little debbie cakes after school. No more cookies and cake for dessert. No more potato chips in front of the TV at night and no more grazing on treats. I let him have one treat a day and on weekends, sometimes we let him splurge a bit. Its made a world of difference.
No doubt about it...certain food additives are harmful to the body and can do a lot worse to you than just make you fat.

It's as if salt is being used as a cover up for bland/poor tasting foods. | We switched to Campbells Healthy Request line after we learned my son's migraines were caused by MSG (monosodium glutimate) which is in every campbells product, except the healthy request line. They are still salty but not nearly as salty as the regular. I had some of their regular chicken noodle soup at a friends house and was amazed at how salty it was after not having it for a couple of years. My tongue burned afterwards... it was so salty Quote:

Good Mom. Good call, he is your son so if certain foods cause you problems it only stands to reason that most likely would have an affect on him as well.

It sounds like Canada reveres the Poppy box much like many Americans revere our flag. | Thanks for understanding Mike. The Poppy in Canada is symbolic of all those that serve our country, especially those that made the supreme sacrifice. To be sneered and laughed at by somebody that doesn't even know what it means - but should - is a great insult. The meaning of the Poppy and November 11 should be taught in immigrant classes.
But back to the topic at hand. I still wouldn't eat there anyway as I don't do fast food. Melissa and I are pretty damn good cooks and no restaurant can deliver food that is both cheaper and better tasting than what me make ourselves! Another thing: When we cook we know exactly what ingredients are in our food, and how much.
It amazes me how many cars are lined up at the Tim Horton's drive-through every morning at 6 AM. Then I see the same people at work every morning sucking down their extra large double-doubles and munching doughnuts. Apparently they have such a 'busy' and 'productive' lifestyle they can't get up an extra fifteen minutes to make a proper breakfast?
