The good news is that it doesn't always work out the way they want it to by digging into those deep pockets. Just more East Coast hype. I never cheer for either one.

All time leader in home runs for a second baseman retires...

Veteran second baseman Kent to quit

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Jeff Kent, baseball's leading home run hitter as a second baseman, will formally retire on Thursday, the Los Angeles Dodgers said in a statement on Wednesday.

The five-times All-Star will draw the curtain on a 17-year career in the majors, having spent the last four seasons with the Dodgers.

Baseball Pitches Illustrated

A fan’s guide to identifying pitches.

Note: Pitchers and Catchers report for Spring Training one week from today - BoSox in Florida, and John Lester (smooth lefty who beat cancer) has already been there for a couple of days!

Ex-major-league pitcher eyes comeback after 18 years.

49-year-old claims his fastball is in the low-90s and his changeup and curveball are as good as ever.

Well it's good to see that the recession isn't everywhere...

Teixeira's Contract Is Not That Big a Deal in New York

Quote:
TAMPA -- In any of the 29 other Major League Baseball spring training camps, the arrival of a graceful, powerful switch-hitting first baseman who signed an eight-year, $180 million contract in the offseason would mean his every movement, his every word, his every swing would be monitored.

The Man Who Warned Baseball About Steroids (3 web pages).

In an era of mighty home runs and blazing fastballs, Rick Helling was an unheeded voice...

Lincecum signs $650,000 contract.

Tim Lincecum is my favorite (non-Red Sox) young pitcher, and already a Cy Young in his pocket.

I'd say that's a bargain having a Cy Young and all...

Not bad for an old guy...

Big Unit makes spring debut for Giants

Even after more than two decades in the majors, 45-year-old Randy Johnson is being exposed to new experiences.

Try a catcher attempting a straight steal of home plate in a spring training game.
