Utley could be the second person to win a World Series MVP on a losing, I hope not, team...

The Ultimate Consolation Prize

Quote:
Utley has five homers, which is tied with Reggie Jackson, another former Yankee, for the most in a World Series.

tis a shame baseball has lost its identity. used to be people knew more about those in the other league. I knew the name but never knew Utley was this good. And I gather this is not something totally off the charts for him. sure it is record setting but that he has shown capability of doing some special things??

Red Sox exercise Martinez option, decline Varitek

BOSTON (Reuters) - The Boston Red Sox have exercised their 2010 contract option on catcher Victor Martinez and declined options on shortstop Alex Gonzalez and catcher Jason Varitek, the team said on Monday.

Boston have also signed right-handed pitcher Tim Wakefield on a two-year contract, keeping the 43-year-old knuckleballer with the club for a 16th consecutive season.

Lincecum wins second straight N.L. Cy Young Award.

Lincecum becomes the league's first back-to-back winner since Randy Johnson won four straight from 1999-2002.

Quote:
The wiry right-hander, nicknamed "The Freak" for his giant stride, needed only 15 victories to earn the award — the fewest for a Cy Young starter over a full season.

Lincecum led the NL with 261 strikeouts and tied for the league lead with four complete games and two shutouts.
