Mathematician foresees tight races in Major League Baseball's Eastern divisions.

The New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians and Los Angeles Angels should make the playoffs in the American League (AL) in 2009 with most other teams lagging well behind. The National League (NL) should see another very tight race in the Eastern Division as has occurred in recent years.

Sheffield reaches contract agreement with Mets

I thought he would have gone to the AL with all that DH potential... but his personality definitely belongs in New York... I guess the Yankees were overstocked (with expensive free agents) this year...

LA Dodgers 4, San Diego 1
Oakland 0, LA Angels 3

The start of another Padre season... How about those Angels? Yea, I know, six months of futility, either at the top, or at the bottom.

Well the Tigers got off to a rollicking start.

This is too early to start baseball. The weather is still too iffy. They should not be playing til the end of the month instead of in the first week.

In his first game back with the Mariners yesterday, Ken Griffey Jr. hit a home run. Ah, the good old days...
