thanks franca
must be hard to really know if one weighs too much. I'll stick to lbs and Kilos/

example: eating 150 grams of chocolate, gaining 2 kilos from it

We had Salisbury steak, mashed taters, gravy (from the steaks), and corn on the cob that we'd picked earlier this year. I baked the steaks this time, it actually may not have been any slower than cooking them in the skillet, and there was much less flipping involved. That may become my new method of cooking them, because it didn't have nearly the hassle.

For dessert we had a fruit crisp w/ice cream and whipped topping. I'm ridiculously full right now.

I have a quick question. I want to make a chocolate cheesecake for thanksgiving (along side the traditional pumpkin and pecan pies). The recipe calls for a crust using 20 crushed OREO cookies. My question is this: Do I use the entire Oreo Cookie or do I scrape out the frosting first?

Tonight we're having a good old Aussie barbie. I've marinated prawns in my special marinade

which contains olive oil, lemon juice, lemon pepper and herbs. Other people have made

salads and a friend is bringing a pavlova. it will probably be topped with fresh cream and lots

of strawberries. Yum!

Me too.......why take out the good stuff

In the picture of the recipe the crust looks black......but maybe since there is so much more black then white in an Oreo, the white just blends in with the black?? I don't know....The frosting in an Oreo is basically sugar, and since its a double chocolate cheesecake......what harm could there be with a little more sugar

The fact that the question is not addressed in the recipe indicates that separation is not required.

I think you are supposed to scrape it out, however, it wouldn't be much more expensive to purchase the box of oreo crumbs or a premade oreo crust--they can be found in the "baking needs" aisle of your local grocery store. MUCH more convenient. HTH!

Or, if you want to be lazy why not go whole hog and just purchase a cheesecake?

I have a brother-in-law that is so picky about anything store bought. If I don't make it from scratch, I'll never hear the end of it
I think he, as a bachelor, has so much pre-made, store bought stuff that when he comes to a family gathering, it is just so important that he get real home cooking. In church this morning, my pastor challenged us, just for one week, to "Do unto others....." (the golden rule). So, I have no choice, I have to make the darned crust (JK...lol)

I couldn't do that. I would get the same dirty look from my brother-in-law that I got when I brought store-made potato salad to our Easter family get-together
