Solved: End of the world in 2012, true or false?

What can we do to divert the end?
I personally will just ignore it.
There are just too many doomsday articles and predictions. I don't want to be any more confused, than I already am.

all that's going to happen is that the calendar will flip over to start again, just like we go from 12.31 to 1.1. No biggie.

what's far more impressive is that they (the mayans) made such an incredibly accurate long calendar back in the day.....

End of the world in 2012, true or false?

Depends on the results of the election.

Last night I happened to flip channels, and what is shown on the History channel? LIFE AFTER PEOPLE
Missed the beginning so I don't know what caused our end.

I watched one of these shows on the History Channel at the behest of my wife. It was filled with "some people say ...", :"others say ..." ad nauseum. If the world ends on 12/21/12 then fine. The world ends. If some natural disaster is going to wipe us out on that date, there's nothing we can do to stop it. All the religilous whargarrble in the world isn't going to change anything and isn't going to help anything. It's the media generated baseless paranoia of Y2K all over again. If I'm wrong, who cares.

I sure hope it's true - I'm running out of money and weary of listening to wingers whine.

It has to wait until I build my spaceship. And that won't be ready until at least 2013...

I watched a similar movie the other night: Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome

I totally agree with the premiss that when/if social chaos occurs intelligent, like minded individuals will band together to accomplish their goal(s). Mainly surviving to see another day.

As for the Mayans, I feel they were an industrious, intelligent, and inspired people but foreseeing the future isn't something that I put stock in.

Amazing how many intelligent people discuss this. I guess we like the "what IF's". So the question on a radio talk-show was, "would you stay or would you board a spaceship to escape?" Where would the spaceship go? What if the air gets used up? what if food runs out, would we eat each other? (their question, not mine)

I think we already have enough chaos here on earth, why not try to solve the problems here first before we thing of escape?
What the heck does it help us, if there is water on the moon? Why waste billions on space research. Nothing will ever help us down here, since the circumstances are not the same.

I like it. Same thing I've espoused for years. Before you go re-arranging somebody else's house, may want to make sure your's is sheng fui first.
