Sandisk Memory Card Reader
I have finally received and installed a digi-cam card reader. After the frustrating experience with Kodak Camera and software (see elsewhere at TSG) this reader is vast improvement! With W98se I constantly had digi-cam/webcam software conlficts.

When I plugged this reader in, W98 (while still running) automatically detected it. I had to browse to the CD's Win98 folder to load the drivers.

On W2k, it automatically installed the hardware and drivers upon booting! I didn't even need the driver CD!

Overall, on both OS's the pictures read and load much faster than the camera, or dock. And there is a noticeable speed advantage with W2k.

Conclusion: Considering the vast speed advantage, ease of use, absence of software bloat and low price, it would be senseless NOT to get one of these!

Finally, many thx to Davey for the kind guidance in these matters, and for steering me to a courteous, reliable and affordable source!

Hi Jim:

I agree with you - these little buggers are fabulous!

Did you get a multi-card reader? I have just a CF reader and have never had a problem with it.

cards
I have also noticed some aftermarket cards are out.
Comp USA had 128 meg chips for about $30 after rebate, these have the same warranty as the sandisc ones.
I was thrilled to see this as my dig-cam is a Sony and the chips were propriatory for a long time...no more ! ...Rhett

Hi Jody!

Pease excuse my ignorance, but as far as I know this reader is for CF also, but I don't know if it will read any other format. All I know is that it put a big on my face!

That is the important thing!

They make multi-card readers now that read both CF and SmartMedia --- too cool!
