Question Cost of intel pentium 300Mhz PC ?
Hi ! Won a intel pentium 300Mhz Pc, keyboard, mouse, software !
(that's all I Know)
Low spec so would sell on if I decided to go for it, but for delivery & a 12 mth RTB Warranty it would cost £99 + VAT, IS IT WORTH IT AFTER ALL ?

Appreciate any views !

Joe2cool.

Don't know your circumstances regarding £££ or available space - but if you work in computing there was one idea I read about in a pc mag sometime ago, whereby you could use an old pc as a hardware firewall.

Not sure thats something you'd want to get involved in but unless you have a pressing need to get rid of it - you might find a way to utilise it.

McTimson,

These might be worth a read. The original article I saw was in a UK PC mag - but can't find it right now.

Joe2cool,

I think that the pc you referred to above would in itself not be worth paying for unless either of the following apply:

1) You know someone who needs a basic pc for home accounts, drafting correspondence, scanning family photos, etc.

2) You already have several pcs on a home network and are concerned about keeping the network secure while surfing ... in which case the above hardware firewall idea might be about the same cost as a router.

Just my opinion.

All the best.

Richard.
