My experiences with Norton Internet Security 2003
I installed NIS on my system a few weeks ago. My rig then was a P 3 550MHZ / 128MB RAM / 20GB / 32MB RivaTNT. The insallation process was pretty good, but I had to run it as Administrator to get it off the ground - Norton overlooked the fact that most people who use their PC dont have Administrator privileges. It required me to restart my system, which ZoneAlarm and McAfee did not.

After install, my system took twice the regular time to boot - Norton has a habit of using too many processes for one product. When Windows finally did boot up, it could not connect to my network - why would a firewall block access to a LAN? Then, the internet did not work at all - disabling individual modules did not help. I had to shutdown NIS 2003. There were tips on how to solve this on Nortons knowlegde base, but they werent helpful. Secondly, after calling Norton, i was abled to use the internet and my LAN. Then I found out that windows XP's built in Internet Connection Sharing feature was not working.

All in all, this product, like most other Norton products, isn't worth it. I use ZoneAlarm Pro now. Much better, easier to use.

Think for yourself
Question authority
Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we dont know who we are or where were going in this ocean of chaos, its been the authorities, the political, religious, educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness.

I haven't had any problems with my Norton 2003. I have the internet one too. But I hear a lot of people complain about Norton. So far so good here.
