Question Spybot S & D or AdAware
Which is better in your opinion, Spybot Serch & Destroy or AdAware? And why?

Most here use both. They are each great but each do things or find things the other does not so safer to have each.

Even better to get spyblaster and spyguard also as they help to keep things from getting on your PC that Spybot Serch & Destroy or AdAware have to clean up.

Spybot S&D locks up my PC every time and AdAware doesn't catch everything even with updates. I am trying to get rid of some nasties that AdAware totally missed and doesn't see now that I have them.

Maybe the nasties that AdAware totally missed is what is making Spybot S&D locks up my PC every time.

Could you be more specific about your computer locking up? Does it happen when you are trying to download updates? If so, you may want to check out this thread:

Have you tried installing it, downloading a fresh copy, and re-installing? I haven't heard of Spybot freezing anyone else's machine.

I use three different ones. SpyBot, Ad-Aware and CWshredder.
CWshredder finds things the other two don't find. I find that I need ALL three to rid my computer of the garbage. Spybot used to freeze on me also but deleted it and did a fresh D/L and it works fine now.
