SMS server 2003/Exchange 2003
Does anyone know if SMS server 2k3/Exchange 2003 can run on Windows Server 2003 "web edition."

According to Microsoft's site the following is posted:
http://www.microsoft.com/smserver/ev...qs/default.asp
Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003, Standard Edition
Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later
Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server with Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later
Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server with Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later

However, it also says that the:
Internet Information Services (IIS) must be installed as part of the Windows Server installation for certain SMS site system roles.

I'm confused becuase the "w2k3 web edtion" comes with IIS too, so does SMS/Exchange run or not?

That would be a negative:

Installations of non-Web serving applications are prohibited. ASP.NET-based applications that include code written in third-party programming languages can include that programming language's runtime components. For non-Web serving applications, you should consider Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition.

Thanks RockN. I know now System Management Server (SMS) 2000 cannot be hosted by win2k3, web edition.

However, I am still confused about the section of the SOFTWARE posting from Microsoft:

http://www.microsoft.com/smserver/ev...qs/default.asp

Software Internet Information Services (IIS) must be installed as part of the Windows Server installation for certain SMS site system roles. (For specific details, see the “Getting Started” chapter in the Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 Concepts, Planning, and Deployment Guide.)

Oh well. Thank you again....
