shipping a computer and the cost??
anyone have experience in shipping a computer? cost? (ballpark fiqure)precautions? recommendations?

Don't know but if make me a nice system and give it to me don't worry about the cost of shipping because I will pay for it.

If you get a PC shipped keep or make a copy of all the forms that come within or mainly on the box. You may need these later on.

Don't forget to buy extra insurance incase the package goes missing or is damaged. Most carriers by default only insure upto $100.00. If you want more insurance, you must specify the exact monetary value you want insured and they charge so much extra per $, per pound.

Also, proper packaging goes a long way to ensure it is not damaged, especially if shipping with ground carriers. The road is not a very smooth surface, especially in a trailer. ..No matter how much insurance you buy, if the carrier deems the packaging unfit, they will not pay out a claim on it.
