AVG at www.grisoft.com

Wouldn't use anything else and it's FREE.

Yup AVG is good.

Another one is Anti-vir(free as well), they even have free support via a bulletin board. Better brush up on your German though, j/k they have an English support section as well.

Currently using AVG 7 Pro and am very happy, but if I were looking to replace it, Panda 2004 Titanium would get some serious thought!

Ciao for now,

hehehe, i have my own methods.

i use and am perfectly happy with norton system works. it updates automaticly, scans for viruses like normal NAV, plus it runs full system scans for every common error. truly a great program. however, it is expensive, BUT i have a burned copy from a friend (the way to go these days). no CD key required, u dont have to pay for updates like normally NAV, and it can do find deleted files and restore them with easy. FAR BETTER THAN NORMAL NAV, "ACQUIRE" it now!

This is not the sort of "help" this site is known for or considers acceptable.

A) For FREE antivirus programs...

1) AVG-free is good, but hasn't updated its engine since the pay version {AVG PRO} went on the market. No support forum. No email support, either.

2) AntiVir PE is state of the art & very light on system resources. DL from...
http://www.free-av.com/

Support forum at...
http://www.free-av.de/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi

3) Avast-free is also quite good. A bit heavier footprint than AV-PE. Has a support forum.

B) For NON-free AV programs...

1) IMHO Kasperski is the best AV -- but ONLY IF you have plenty of ram & a fast cpu. Has a support forum

2) F-Prot is close behind Kasperski, & is extremely easy on resources. Superb tech support via email.

3) DrWeb is superb, but it does need a rather savvy user. Has a support forum, but it's not so good. Email tech support is responsive.

grace & peace to you........bellgamin
