which broadband
not sure if this is the correct forum or if this is allowed - so moderator please delete if not correct.

I have been looking at broadband suppliers for my children 15/13 (who live with mum) in the UK and seem to have come across what i think seems the best deal.

AOL £24.99 per month free modem for 512K broadband. NO restrictions on downloads.

having looked at various other deals there appears to be restrictions (BUT only when asked) of 1GB per month etc.....

cost is a major factor...... value for money

i have always been wary of AOL because of problems with compatability with other products however, with there broadband i do not need to install there software just the drivers for the modem etc....

also supports the XBOX

i have tried looking at http://www.net4nowt.com/ for reviews but did not find an lot of info.....

any advice suggestions or alternative review sites

I am with Pipex, no problems.
Costs less than AOL, they also have free modem, filters and no set up charge.

Do you have NTL in your area...? I use their 1MB BBservice.. it costs a little more then the price you state but there service is excellent. They are also going to upgrade the service to 1.5MB later this Summer - free...!!!!

just to let you know it ended a call between aol and pipex - aol won due to freephone support - much more helpful tech desk - and cost £10 / mth cheaper for 1mb.
thoughts where if the techies cant help me cheerfully when i'm thinking of buying the service then what can i expect in the future.

thanks 4 advice

My advice would be to check out the review sites Kath100 pointed out. ispreview.co.uk has a top ten section plus loads of info. I am with NDO and its excellent, but in the end the choice is yours.
