Thumbs down Symantec Norton SW
This post is meant to share info AND to vent! I've lost my loyalty to Norton but is there anything better? I was running Norton SystemWork PE 2003 on Windows ME. Subscription expired so I purchased a new NSW PE 2003 to replace it. Completed uninstall and install of new to find the new was not working. After lengthy telephone hold was told you can't replace with the same version, was transferred to "more knowledge" dept and was explained that uninstall doesn't uninstall completely and I was emailed "instructions" to completely remove the old. I printed 1" worth of instructions to include uninstalling manually and SYMClean. After reading instrs twice I prepared a checklist to insure doing it right. The new was recognized and runs EXCEPT the new subscrip term is not recognized nor is the virus definition updating. After another lengthy tele hold I was told I must have omitted something. I reread 1" worth of instrs, double checked checklist and did the WHOLE process again! Same results.
I can understand Symantec wanting to reduce pirating (if that is their reason for this lunacy) BUT it is ridiculous to cause users this time consuming headache. It definitely doesn't glorify their product or Company.

msm55,
Try contacting Symantec via the web site instead of the phone. Seemed to me that their customer service was more knowledgable via emails!!
My Mother had the same thing happen to her, and they very quickly issued her a new code, that she never had a problem with.
