Question Anyone have experience with Getright?
My neighbor told me she uses "Getright" to download. I try not to download anything that TSG doesn't mention so I won't try this until I get positive feedback from you. What is Getright, is it safe, is my neighbor "right"? Thanks...

It was a nice program last time I used it Does a good job of boosting download speed. I haven't used it in quite a while though, I'm not sure if it contains spyware.

I use it. It works quite well, except for the few sites that prevent the use of download managers. In Internet Explorer, you can let it automatically get the download if you wish, but in Mozilla you can't do this and need to manually start the download in GetRight.

As far as I know it doesn't have any spyware, but since I use Mozilla it is possible that popups are just getting blocked.

GetRightŪ

It is a privilege that you use my software on your computer. Thank you.
I have worked very hard to ensure that GetRight is a high-quality, useful product: one that I would want to use on my own computer if someone else had written it.

In earlier versions, I've tried different ways with GetRight to make money and to compete with some of the similar programs: showing banner ads and having the option for extra bundled software in the installer.
But no more.
The banner ads have been removed for a over a year, and as of November 4, 2002, the optional Gator software in the installer for GetRight has been completely removed from GetRight's installer.

So for versions of GetRight 4.5e and higher:
# GetRight contains absolutely no extra advertising add-ons or advertising systems.
# GetRight contains no extra programs tagging along in its installer.
# GetRight will not (and never has) send us any personal information about you or your computer without your knowledge.
# GetRight will not connect to our web site(s) without your control and a reason useful for you. (Checking for a newer version and searching for mirrors for now.)

In return, I ask for your respect and honesty. Advertising and the other things I'm not going to do are how many other software companies make their money. Refusing these ways, we will only make money if you buy GetRight. I rely on and trust in you, the people who use my software, to do the right thing and purchase it.

It seems like an excellant downloader. Been using it only a month, but no issues at all and no sign of spyware/adware, as promised.

It is very good for segmenting and allowing you to download from more than one source. I started using it while still on dialup because if you get dropped you don't lose what you have already downloaded. You simply reconnect and resume where you were dropped. I still use it, but only for LARGE downloads like 3dmark03 and such. For the normal 20 meg and less I don't bother unless the server I am using sux. Then I use it and search for mirror servers. Almost always works and the download picks up to bearable speeds.
