Site with reviews of TVs, anyone?
Anyone know any good websites for finding a review of LCD TVs? I'm after a 17inch TV (not monitor) and can find plenty of prices but not many sites with any reviews on them.

NewEgg.com is a great place for user posted reviews. Other than that I really dont know of any place that specializes in LCD TV reviews.

First of all go here
http://www.homecinemachoice.com/
then on the right hand side click on LCD Displays.
Scroll right to the bottom of the page and you can search or list all of the LCD TV reviews on their site. A total of 622.

wait til you read how greeky this is: i have read every month of every Consumer Reports for the past 23 years. Having said that, thier reports are not perfect, thier advice is not perfect, BUT VERY CLOSE TO BEING PERFECT and objective.

I would check ConsumerReports. Thier newest issue Novemeber,2005, and is thier Annual Electronics Report,at newstands today.

Some general thoughts that come to mind for standard TV "reliablility" over the past 10 years, EVERYTHING Sanyo makes are the most reliable products you can buy, followed by Panisonic. Many times Magnovox rates high for reliability. RCA items are NOT reliable. ConsumerReports reported about a year ago, they were not able to report on LCD brand name tv reliability because they are so new, however standard tv brand name reliability might be used as barometer.

Reliabilty is one thing to consider, picture quality is another. RCA items break easily, but many times they have the best picture. Sony pictures tend to be superb, Pansonic superb, Sanyo pictures tends to be very good pictures but not excellent.

In the past, Consumer reports has said LCD TVs are not for everyone, there are drawbacks on a LCD picture despite the fact they look good in the stores.

You might to check for warrenties, the old 5 years on everything is gone into the history books. You might not want to buy at Wallyworld(ASDA),they tend to toss thier merchandise around before it gets to the shelves(and even when its on the shelves too) and many times are returned items without being marked so. . Mass mechandising has its drawbacks despite low prices(and low prices are not always the lowest any longer).

POSTSCRIPT: WOW! i checked ConsumerReports Issue for November and LCD tvs are on the cover page: http://www.consumerreports.org/main/home.jsp

LCD TVs

UPDATE
i briefly checked ConsumerReports for Nov.2005.

The most highly-rated LCD TV is SONY...Toshiba and Sharp had high ratings, although one Sharp model had low ratings

Consumer Reports divided LCD TVs into 3 types. I forget the wording, something like there are PURE LCD TVs,the most expensive, then 2 lower level types, lower priced LCDs.

Prices were $1000-3000. It appears the best looking LCD TVs are also the most expensive

Me? i would buy the lowest price 17 LCD TV and wait til the most expensive, best looking LCD TVs prices come down in price.
