Talking Best spyware and adaware programs to buy or download Poll No. 1
Hi Everyone.
I'm writing this thread to make a poll on different adaware and spyware programs you can use for your PC.
Could you let me know what systems you use; if they are free or you have to buy them and vote on the best programs in this poll.

I will use the results of the programs you use to create a new poll on other programs.

The reason i am doing this is i've had many people telling me what the best software is on the market, but obviously unless a had a million mega bites of Ram, there were no conflicts and my processor could cope with all the programs running at once i cannot run all these programs at once to keep my PC clean.

I Hope this poll and information i gain will be of help also to other people who want to get information on security software. And what is the best to get

I have these FREE programs on 4 PC's that never go off line (except laptop when it is powered down and not being used) and the grandkids ages 3 to 14 go any place that they want and I have never had any problems but do pick up something occasionally that Spybot or aSquared will remove. Spybot Search and Destroy (with Tea Timer on), SpywareBlaster, AVG Anti Virus and a2Squared. They are ALL the FREE version. I used to use Zone Alarm for a firewall (works both incoming and outgoing) but since I have a router (incoming hardware firewall) I removed it from all the PC's and turned on the Windows XP one. The desktops have XP Pro and the Laptop has XP Home. AdAware is another good one for Spyware.

Well, when I test my machine it's listed as "Full Stealth" on the net.
All I have is;
Netgear Router
Zone Alarm Pro 4.5.XX
Fire Fox (As a safer browser)
SpyBot S&D
Bit Defender 9 (Anti Virus and active scanner only)
SpyWare Blaster (Was recommended by SpyBot)
And a custom Host file, with the SpyBot additions.

So far I haven't gotten any nasties.... Well.... That I didn't download by mistake.
The only slowdown with my system is the active scanner for the AV.. Since it scans every accessed file, it slows things down a bit.

Win xp machine: Kerio 2.1.5. fire wall with the xp firewall off.....free

Adaware....free
AVG+AVG Anti Spyware..... free
SysInternals RootKit Revealer....free
ccleaner used periodically to get rid of temp files....free
FireFox with NoScript, AdBlock Plus and flashblock........free

I also use all of the free products mentioned and a hard wired router. I only keep one AV & one Spyware/Adware with real time protection but scan weekly with all the others. Also keep a host file from IE-Spyad & Spybot S&D lists added. My browser of choice is Opera BTW. I was a victim of a real nasty Cool Web Search variant and helped a friend fix his so I'm paranoid. That's how I found TSG & why I keep coming back. Good Thread!
