98se not supported on some ISP`s DSL
Just a little venting going on so no biggie. A few months ago wife got sbc yahoo dialup(6 month term length, just to check them out (we thought if we liked the service, we would just go ahead and when our contract ended, we would just upgrade to the dsl (at the time we started using sbc, we had checked out there system requirements for dsl, and 98se was supposed to be supported for there dsl. Well, here we go, contract ended, called sbc and told them we wanted to upgrade to the dsl, and lo and behold, they don`t support 98se under their dsl anymore, not even ME. As soon as my wife told me that, I went online to sbc site (AT&T now), and right there on the site it said 98se is ok with their dsl. Talk about a joke. So, I thought if at&t doesn`t want my money, I`ll just try Comcast cable internet, WRONG, system requirements are Windows 2000 and above. I realize time marches on, but 98se is a good os, and there must be millions of people out there still using it, and what, we are just cut out of the loop because we have a dated os, don`t want to change our os, or don`t have the spare money to buy a new machine. Don`t make sence to me. Well, that`s about it, stuck on dialup just because I have 98se. Thanks for your time, at least my mind feels a little lighter.

Regards

Comcast cable internet works just find with Windows 98. They just won't provide any technical support. You're on your own. If you want high speed internet, you can get it.

I have comcast and 98 and it works just find.
Your have to do some tweaks on 98 because it will not give you the higher speeds till you do the 98 tweaks.
But they will not help you on making any tweaks.

See threads here.

I had SBC DSL on a 98 SE and it was horrible. Some of you may remember me asking for help on it a year ago . But it might have been my PC lol.
